I think it is cool; informing yourself was the wisest move here; remaining ignorant is a failure but becoming a better person isn't. That being said I understand entirely your right to be mad at celebrities and don't believe a 'formal' apology is truly necessary because we know how they'll react moving forward. THE important thing however is how you move forward. Well done.
