Hello my lovely Patrons,

I'm still working on the last two illustrations for this month's Patreon rewards but in the meantime I thought I'd share with you the early stages of my Giselle illustration.

1 - Concept: I usually doodle on my iPad, not always but sometimes I decide to already check the colors to see where I want the shadows and lights to be placed and get myself into the mood already <3

2 - Sketch: If I enjoy the concept I usually put the opacity down and sketch over it

3 - Lineart: When I'm happy with my sketch I print it out and use my lightbox to sketch over it with my pencils.

4 - Base colors: Once the pencil lineart is done, I scan it and start coloring! First step I use base colors referring to my previous concept sketch. Sometimes I start from black&white and then transform to color when I'm happy with my values but it's usually with much more detailed illustrations with full backgrounds :)

Further steps will ofc be .jpgs (without descriptions) in the $6 tier as a part of July Patreon Rewards!

Looking forward to sharing more works with you soon! ^_^

Hope you'll have a lovely weekend!

Love,

Toshia

May I ask why you don't use the digital lineart for your art? It looked so good! the pencil lineart is gorgeous as well, but I'm just curious!

Ahh it’s just a personal preference! And probably my perfectionism as well 😆 I feel like I have a better control over my lines and with how steady my hand is when I sketch with pencil. Also I love the texture of the pencil sketch after it’s scanned, it gives me a more natural and less “digital” feel ☺️
