Working on the last scene of the video. Still not super happy with the physics, but it's getting there!

I get an error message when I click on the link... :( „Unfortunately we could not find the page“

Generally you have to watch the videos on patreon. And the link just opens the window on their website. It was turned off from working on vimeo since people were sharing it around a while back. I changed this one though so it should just work now. Let me know though

Oh ok, i see. I was using the Mobile App thats why its Not working. :D Love the WIP, i m so hyped for the Final thing❤️🔥

are you using the physics cage cloth simulation method in Blender for this?

sliceofsize

If you are asking for just the basic answer yes it does use that. If you want the complicated how does mine work then it's a mix of Cloth Simulation, Geometry Nodes, and Shape Keys. Um cloth simulations suck at preserving any volume so geometry nodes is comparing volumes and applying displacement along normals using the ray node to calculate what sections of the body are not currently touching things and compensating for lost volume in those sections. But it's much lighter than baking physics higher quality physics over and over. Idk each situation can have a different answer but this is my generic one that has worked well for the past 3 videos

That actually sounds like it's worth a try. I have been messing around with the method of soft cloth on a proxy mesh with a surface deform and data transfer to have a volume preserved mesh. Though, I noticed it seemed to have limitations with scaling and it being rather taxing on the system. I'll definitely have to attempt using ray cast with shape keys. Just for a follow-up question if you don't mind: is the ray cast used with a cloth simulation modifier or does the ray-cast just simulate the effect?
