I’ve never worked in customer service, but seeing the anxious and skittish new workers tells me everything I need to know about it.

My first job was working at a mailing store where I had to know lots of things. I worked package shipping during the holidays - people who were just not yelling at me were so valued, and those that were patient and kind were absolute saints!

Why don't they train people properly? Have someone experienced work alongside for two weeks or so? Have at least proper procedures and check-list, unexperienced people can work along? Probably because it must be cheap, cheap, cheap and training costs more money than just yelling at people. The customers (that's: all of us) are part of the problem, too. Too high expectences, and being unforgiving.

And: what the heck is in that bag?

Blues last sentence is so true. I would have been glad if I had been allowed to say what I was thinking... but smile only....

I agree with Blue at the end, I've done a lot of customer service. Sometimes I just want to go feral on people.
