Based on a true story. He asked me to drive him to the dentist’s because he is going to have some work done, and he’s so terrified of dentists they’ll have to drug him for the operation.

The operation was early in the morning, so we had to leave earlier, and originally we meant to get me a cup of coffee along the way, but forgot.

At the first sight of me after the operation, his face lit up with the slowest smile I’ve ever seen - it was like watching the sun rise. He doesn’t even drink, I had no idea what he would be like under the influence of anything.

But he remembered the coffee. I had forgotten it, but he remembered, and insisted we have to go get me a cup of coffee. Once we got home, I tried to coerce him to just get inside, but he is roughly the same size as me and only had one goal in mind: to get me a cup of coffee.

In the corner store (literally in the same block, I wouldn’t have let him wander further), we got me a coffee and he decided to also get a bunch of snacks, chips and peanuts and roughly 10-15 different kinds of candybars. I explained to the cashier that he’s good, he was just sedated at the dentist.

Once we got home he crawled in bed, passed out, slept for several hours and woke up remembering nothing about this.
