Ship Classes Rough Draft (Patreon)

Hi everyone! Once again I'd like to say thank you for your support. This is a rough draft of my vision for the size of the ships featured in the universe of The New Species. Gotta think of a name for that at some point...

Corvette/Frigate: <1 mile (1.6km) in length. Corvettes are lightly armed and armored. Frigates have thicker hulls and more guns. Usually designed for transport or light skirmishes. Fits in carriers.

Destroyer: >1 mile (1.6km) <3 miles (4.8km) in length. Usually designed for close range warfare. Fits in carriers.

Cruiser: >3 miles (4.8km) <10 miles (16km) in length. Usually designed for mid and long range warfare. Does not fit in carriers. United Systems doesn't use this class of spaceship anymore.

Battleship: >10 miles (16km) in length. Usually designed to be effective at all ranges. Typically has the thickest armor plating that money can buy and as many weapons that can fit on it. 

Carrier: Size irrelevant. Must be able to "carry" ships classed corvette or above. Typically well armed and armored.

Dreadnaught: Size irrelevant. Must have at least one 'planet cracker' type weapon. Typically much larger than all other ship classes.
