lol wouldn't it be easier for the spirits to just possess people and literally speak through them? I mean the "soul" or "spirit" would already be used to the physical human body having been in one, so to me just possessing someone makes way more sense than trying to figure our frequencies and audio equipment to talk lmao

So hear me out: While this is obviously ridiculous, it actually makes more sense in "ghost bullshit" world that they'd interact in the electronics. Cause I'd never heard of the idea that ghosts can magically change soundwaves. But I think almost every single ghost lore in the last 50+ years has them messing with electrical stuff.

Sure it's in the lore (not sure about computers though...), but it does make less sense. At least editing sound in motion is just changing wave frequencies...somehow. It's ludicrous, but if some being could do it, perhaps they could do it as effortlessly as we make sound. In fantasyland. But the fx pedal... It's not enough to just be able to do something. They would need to know the technical design of the product, down to the most granular detail, to even get started in any meaningful way. Unlike waves in the air, there is nothing in that box which directly represents sound in any but the most obtuse and roundabout way.
