Changing our Focus (Patreon)

We've been doing some soul searching this month and we feel it is time to reorient what projects we focus on going forward. We started Forked Tail in 2019 with lofty goals, promising to be primarily comics artists. While we did complete one major project, our output since has not been meeting that original promise. We worry we've slumped into an artistic path of least resistance, and at this point we are just pin up artists that occasionally and rarely do something more grandiose.

First off, the monthly poll is ending. This is something that took up about a week of every month (more when it tied) and we think that effort is better spent on comics and on other creative endeavors we are more personally invested in. It may come back later in a different form, or as a once in a while thing, but for now it's off.

Second, we are going to try and get the current Titans comic off the back burner, and we will probably be doing more Titans art in general. This includes Raven's Strip Game, we planned to do 15 parts and made it to 12 before it petered out. Well we've decided we don't care and are going to see it through.

Third, and getting to those personally invested projects, we want to do more with our OCs. We know those aren't exactly everyone's favorite, but we think it's something that would be more unique than our years of pinups have allowed, and something to let us better carve out a niche in the art landscape.

Fourth, we accepted a handful of commissions in January from subscribers via the discord, and like the comic we have been dragging our feet on them. We will prioritize those as well, and hopefully be taking more in the future when the queue is cleaned up.

The change is happening, but we also want to know what our subscribers think. Give us your two cents: why did you subscribe in the first place and what do you want to see from us?
