Developers arent choosing to lean into live service games. The suits up at the publisher level (eg. Activation) are forcing game structures into the live service model. They want profit margins over good standalone games. Bungie (creator of Destiny) devs have hinted at this over the past 5+ years. We can thank the 'whales' that dump money into fortnite and CoD for each and every cosmetic and timed event for this.

On the last Dick Show, Dick says he's going to lay off on Vito about getting on the scale. Dick proceeds to hammer Vito the entire show about his weight and getting on the scale. I'm worried that one of these days, Vito is going to go for that shotgun when he reaches his breaking point.
