CELEBRITY DRAMA!

- At egscomics

Commentary

I recently had the following to say on The Twitters, which inspired this comic (even though Justin's attitude is a bit different to my own):

A question I'm asking myself more and more is "why do I care?"

Not in general, but in specific situations, such as a celebrity drama that's vaguely alluded to on Twitter. I stop, and sincerely wonder "why do I care?"

Answers in such a case tend to be things like "I want to be in on the loop", "just curious", "it's annoying that I keep seeing things without context", and "oh no I like this celebrity's work what did they do".

Oh! And "I don't care about the celebrity in question, but someone I follow has an opinion, and I want to know how I feel about the opinion of the person I actually care about."

I'm about as close to immune to this as it gets I think. I do have the occasional moments of "hey someone I like is in the news... please don't be dead or a dumbass" but once I've looked enough to see it's not either I stop paying attention enough to see why they are actually in the news. The obsession with celebrities is only sightly less baffing to me then the obsession with random other people

One question I like to ask people: "What would excite you more -- meeting a celebrity, or meeting an exotic animal?" So far, the latter is winning.

I mean, the celebrity would win if we had to meet up close (no glass between us) and the animal was an angry tiger, but I get your point.

I think we just like hearing about drama.

It depends on who the celebrity is--if it's somebody whose work I like (performer, writer, whatever), then I would like to meet them, but if it's just a random celebrity in whom I have no existing interest, then probably not.

I rarely read about drama from mainstream celebrities, but Will Smith being super touchy about that joke surprised me, and it surprised me even more to find out that this dude who plays roles where he's as confident as a Black James Bond is actually a cuck.

As far as mainstream celebrities go I don't think I'd want to meet anyone, but meeting Markiplier could be fun. Btw. how famous do you need to get to be a celebrity? I think "being on TV" would no longer be a valid criterion what with all that trash TV on the one hand and there being many internet celebrities on the other. Is Dan a celebrity? Meeting him could be fun. :-)

So, a day ending in "y".

Wasn't there of course, but she looked genuinely upset that someone was making a joke about her illness; it is unsurprising that she is sensitive about it, and equally unsurprising that, if Will looks around and sees the woman he married hurt to make a cheap gag, that he would feel a strong urge to punch whomever said it in the mouth. I would feel he was unfit as a partner if he didn't. He isn't supposed to actually get up and do it though.

Meh, I'm with YellowFlash2 on this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fta7Phc6Zmk
