A fighting chance.

Do I need to say this is Ellen?

I'm going to say this Ellen.

I didn't write backwards from the third panel on this one to intentionally make a Nintendo joke. I just though that Ellen would like games in which she'd have an increased fighting chance against Grace, and once I started listing ways to make that happen, well...

Super Smash Bros.

Super Mario Kart.

Mario Party.

Nintendo has Ellen's back on this one.

What is the blobby thing behind Grace?

The thing above her head is her tail. The thing below her head is her hair. I'm not sure which you're referring to, or if you mean something else I'm not seeing. Her tail and hair are both bigger than usual, but we're talking about a shapeshifter who can tweak her appearance at will.

huh. I hadn't realized that Grace was so good at video games. Maybe she should try being a Twitch Streamer? I bet being a cute squirrel girl who is really good at games would be a great "gimmick." She also wouldn't need to lie or anything, because everyone would assume it was just part of the bit. Ok, maybe mentioning specific names isn't a good idea, but just saying that she's a half alien squirrel girl would probably be fine.

Grace being good at video games was established long, long ago: https://www.egscomics.com/comic/2003-03-24 :) But it doesn't come up very often these days.

Grace has superhuman reflexes, a lot of free time, is very intelligent, and really needs a constructive outlet for her rage. Of COURSE she's good at video games.

Aww :( he was the best for recovering from constantly falling off, too.

Since no one else is pointing it out: Nintendo does this intentionally. These kind of mechanics to help level the playing field between disparate skill levels are very useful for kids, who are a very large part of nintendo's market (or at least, their parents are).

I feel she probably also has a better 3D model than someone who doesn't climb walls, walk across ceilings, or fly regularly, even before factoring in the 3D sense that her antennae provide. Sure, the antennae can't give her that 3D sense within the game, but the point is they've helped develop that part of her brain.
