SUDDENLY BARRELS!

Commentary

This MIGHT conclude Parable? It depends on whether there are more questions asked that I want to answer in-comic. I know what storyline I want to do next, but ye gods, I'm still planning it, and there's a lot to plan, so either I'm answering more Parable questions next, or I'm doing assorted standalone nonsense for a bit.

Or impromptu mini-Q&A separate from Parable? PLAYING THINGS BY EAR (right up until I'm not).

Nuance!

The fact that Jay had been assigned a role, and hadn't actually orchestrated a plan to gather data on Grace through dreams, was implied by the story itself. This is literally strip #219 in said story, however, and it was implied rather than outright said, and I wanted it outright said that she had been assigned a role.

A role that reflected her desires, but NUANCE! It IS worth noting that she wasn't entirely of clear mind at times during this!

Morphing Verres

I wanted to clarify the above points, and to draw Mr. Verres transforming into that form, because of course I did.

Granted, I'm not 100% satisfied with it, and this is mostly because I somehow underestimated just how much space the text would take up. I might have to revisit such a sequence in a less limiting situation.

To be clear, I do like it. It's just my standards for what I wanted from it all the way up HERE (hand high above my head), and I managed around here (hand around the middle of my face).

Ironically, I added even more text to help fill up space. The amount of text that existed without additional text was just enough to limit visuals while not being enough to fill the panels, somewhat paradoxically making the most logical solution MORE TEXT!

That said, that "more text" included the question of who's dreaming this, which I can't imagine not being included now.

TL;DR is you didn't think of the implications of the story you'd written and now you're desperately trying to not have written Jay into being a creep.

What this comic is talking about was shown in the story itself when Jay realized she couldn't have set up the dream. This isn't a retcon, it's a confirmation of things already shown in the story. Nor does it really exonerate Jay from any sort of creep status. She's basically out to stalk Tedd in canon, after all, and befriend Grace to do so. She also definitely eavesdropped on Sam and Grace prior to getting pushy about them transforming in the hopes of simply getting a new spell. There's a reason the line "Jay might not be a saint" was in last Saturday's comic.

If verres can go through transformation shenanigans, anyone can. So, whose dream is it? Might as well be mine :)

Jared Fattmann

Normally I would not take up this banner, but... given the inherent weirdness of dreams... this seems like a missed opportunity to satisfy that one guy who really wanted femme-but-still-mustachioed Mr. Verres

AstroChaos

Ok, so, more or less what some of us had already suspected then... she wasn't entirely lucid, nor was anyone else. Harder to judge with her because we just don't know her that well but there were times when things she did made no sense outside of keeping the flow of the dream. Rage attacking the horsey being made the obvious one, but hardly the only one.

I'm surprised Mr Verres didn't keep his mustache through the transformation. I feel like anyone whose design prominently includes facial hair should keep it when being gender bent

Adama

I do like a nice Mr. Verres TG.

I'd love to see EGS-NP just get back to some quality random Zappy stuff for a while and not be a second long story line. From being a long time follower, it seems that the writing process can drag you down. Just enjoy your art on NP and save the writing for the main page. Just a thought!

Love the longer stories for EGS-NP!

Nice!❣️

It is clearly Tedd's dream, she just wishes her dad got her.

ijuinkun

Or perhaps Tedd wishes for a mother who is more like her father . . .
