See? Look how zoomed out we would have to be if the skeleton monsters were just-on-panel.

Commentary

"Off-panel fields and farms" is not said in error. Those are not "just-off-panel". Those are in the distance off-panel. From that location, however, the livestock are "just-off-panel", though this does get confusing, because if the farms and fields themselves are off-panel, one would, logically, never actually be near enough to them for the cows to be "just-off-panel".

It is worth noting, however, that Rhoda refers only to the vast majority of cows, and cows may well wander, or transported for various reasons. There could have been cows in the very town Susan was spending time in earlier, and those would, in fact, be "just-off-panel".

I believe you'll find everything about this adds up logically and should never be questioned.

The sad thing is that STILL is a way better explanation then some of the cringy games do. :P

I like it when characters carry on casual conversation in the midst of a fierce fight.

Susan has had some fun poses recently. The "standing around talking" comics are good (especially since your characters DO talk, and don't just run off with simple-to-clear-up misconceptions all the time - Magnus aside), but it's been a while since we had a properly hammed-up magical/martial showdown. Keep up the good work. Just, don't forget the beefcake too - my appreciation there may be purely from a technical standpoint, but you manage it very well without going over-the top.

The 'off-panel vs. just-off panel' explanation actually makes perfect sense, if you're used to RPGs and other games that measure range in relative bands.

I have to say, I've been waiting for the narrator to comment about how Susan is using Fire and apparently enjoying it, instead of either tying up or hammering down the skeletons.

Panel 1 Susan and Panel 3 Susan are good Susans.

I'm waiting for a "they're SKELETONS" justification followed by "So you think that means they're not people?" retort, complete with a gag panel of a skeleton warrior saying goodbye to his skeleton wife with skeleton children and skeleton cat and dog in their skeleton suburban home.

There's something really funny about giving an NPC an existential crisis. :p

In "Skies of Arcadia," Aika designs a flag with an image of a cat. You can search the entire world of Arcadia and never find a cat. Are they extinct?

It depends. If they just carry on conversation like this because for one of them, the fight is no big deal, that's great. If the characters are being overwhelmed because they're too engrossed in their conversation to do anything, that's not so great.

For some reason, I keep reading your handle as "coredumpEMPEROR", which I find hilarious. Both the mistake and the actual mistaken name.

Heh, you're not the first! At least four people have told me the same thing in the past. I find it fun. :)
