An update on our Patreon! (Patreon)

Hello all, it's Joan!

As everyone now knows, we have relaunched the podcast officially. Can I get an amen? The girls are back! The gays are back! And we're here to party. But a few things to note as we get rolling:

We made a lot of promises in 2019, when we launched this Patreon, about what we thought was possible. We met most of those promises, failed in some--mostly, we fell apart, as detailed in our latest episode, after Christmas 2019--but the takeaway we learned? Our Patreon works best when it is a peak inside our process via the "Leftovers" episodes, and the bonus episodes. Those are not only the most accessed posts on our Patreon, but the most requested--specifically for Hot Topics!

In its new format, we will return to a classic Hot Topics structure for the podcast, alongside more methodical deep dives. We are not going to promise the world anymore, because we learned we are human, and the world is impossible to deliver--and it isn't fair to patrons!

As such, those of you still around might notice I've cleaned up our Patreon to only include Leftover and Bonus episodes. Not only will it help our sanity and work ethic moving forward, but it will help us consistently deliver on new and exciting stuff for patrons to listen too. 

2020 was a mass reckoning for most in the content creation sphere, although you all know just how much I hate that fucking turn of phrase. Content creator: what does it even mean, exactly? I don't want to be a factory, and our listeners don't expect us to be factories either. Across the industry, and even outside of it, people have universally realized how much work goes into the act of self-publishing, and the ways in which we often trap ourselves in totally unhealthy habits. 

My sobriety journey has taught me so much. I just hope to apply those lessons learned in all areas of my life, not just the personal bits. At the end of the day, Lawson and I are best friends for life, and I never want to put anything between us again, even this podcast!
