Tsukki is my favorite character but he does have a bit of a slower start character development wise and it took till season 3 before he became my favorite. My favorite thing about Haikyuu, that I can tell Nick is starting to notice, is that there aren’t really “bad guys” vs good guys in the traditional sense. There are protagonists and antagonists, but no real villains. You learn every (and I mean every) named characters emotions, backstory, and/or motivations to a degree. It makes it that much more emotional when they play matches cause even if you’re rooting for Karasuno to win you kinda feel for their opponents too and want to root for them a bit too. I haven’t caught up in the manga but at least in the anime so far and where I’ve read up to in the manga they’re aren’t really any characters I outright hate. There are characters that it’s really satisfying to see get knocked down a peg, but no one I can’t stand.
