About zanpakto: they are swords that have the embodiment of the user's soul in them. Each zanpakto has a zanpakto spirit so when you said shunsui's zanpakto would start talking, all zanpaktos are capable of speaking to their owner if they have a good relationship with them. Shikai: the zanpakto's true form. Each shikai typically grants the user 1 extra ability. In ichigo's case, for example, it's getsuga tenshou. bro tosen-komamura-hisagi has the one of the best dynamics in bleach i really loved their relationship story and conclusion. byakuya and kuchiki vs zero espada is just a regular fight but tosen fight has a deep meaning

you may be right, but I just never really cared about Tosen. After his great fight with Kenpachi way back, he felt like a background character. And in this scene, it was crazy to assume Hisagi would reach him with his words about old times. Still, the explanation for why Tosen couldn't kill him with his first strike was great.

The zanpakuto ( sword ) have 2 forms, 1 is "Shikai" ( transformacion basic, like the Renji sword with saw teeth ) and then the 2 is "Bankai" the full sword potencial ( like Tensa zangetsu "ichigo" or Senbonsakura "Byakuya" )
