Chronologically this movie takes place between the last two arcs of season 5, but because of some anime shenanigans its best to watch this after finishing season 5. Because it released so early on relative to its place in the timeline, they kept spoilers to a minimum but could not eliminate them all without the timeline not making sense.

Despite what a majority of the chat was saying, this and all the my hero movies are in fact canon, even if the timing doesn't feel right. All movie-only characters have popped up in the manga at some point in the final arc.

WOOO!! I've been so HYPED to see this reaction!!! 😁😁😁I'm so glad you liked it!! I think I replayed that last scene like 6 times when I first watched the movie, it's just so so so amazing - and with the music too! God. Out of the movies they have right now, this one is definitely my favourite. The third movie is still awesome! but this one just had such a good vibe to it for me. I love the teamwork between Bakugou and Deku, the kids were absolutely precious, and all the other characters getting their little moments as well made me so happy! Especially Shoji and Sero. Also, getting to see Bakugou's moments here was so important for the next season, I think. He's really growing and it's so great to see 😊Have fun in the next season, Nick! It's gonna be awesome!

Yes and no this movie is weird it was released before season 5 but in the timeline it takes place in the middle. So I would assume he is just watching it in release order cause its easier and less confusing

The movie is cool but i really don't think we should consider it canon, i don't want to spoil Nick if he read that but some details on shigaraki at the end clearly shows this movie happens at the end of season five, Tokoyami can fly like it's nothing for him... It's not even teasing for the next season at this point, just free spoilers. The only canon thing this movie has are still frames of characters that dosen't even last 2 seconds in the main series.

The Movie is canon. The Characters appear in the Manga, these events happened it just takes place between MVA and the EA arc in S5, some designs are wrong in the Movie but that can be attributed to that the production started before MVA even finished in the Manga and Bones just didn't know any better

Shit i meant we should NOT consider it canon, that's why i criticised the incoherences and the fact they released Heroes rising before season 5 aired. To get back to the canon point, i'm also a manga reader and i feel like Horikoshi made it canon just to please the fandom, nine and the kids only appeared in 1 or 2 pages in 400+ chapters and we never had a "hey remember when we were left on our own on an island and 4 dangerous terrorists almost killed us but then i gave baguko OFA and we beat nine" talk or something like that. The movies are enjoyable but except the first one, nothing would have changed if they weren't canon

I heard that this movie was Horikoshi's original plan for the end of My Hero with Bakugou inheriting OFA and Deku making the sacrifice of giving up power to save the world. Not sure if it's true or not, but it makes sense.

Deku always been my favorite. People really downplay him a lot for what he does. The guy was willing to sacrifice his own dream for a couple of children he had just met. Deku deserves more praise for the actions he takes. Instead he gets hated on. But thats fine the real deku fans know he is a great character. Nick was wrong Deku looks cooler than bakugo in my own opinion.

I'm pretty sure it didn't make more money in the states because of how much of a delay there was between the japan release and the us release. Everyone got sick of waiting and watched pirated versions with fan subtitles. (or maybe i'm thinking of the first mha movie icr)

Also, the director, Kenji Nagasaki, confirmed in an interview shared by Twitter user @aitaikimochi that they used the premeditated idea of the original series final battle at the end of Heroes Rising. This reveals that the original ending of MHA series was Deku transferring One For All to Bakugo so that they could fight together.

All three movies are canon, confirmed by the author so we can take his word for it. The second movie came out between season 4 and 5 but it takes place in the timeline after the last arc in season 5 (thanks to the studio switching two arcs to time the release of the third movie better). While the second movie was being worked on, Horikoshi had characters mention Nine and the experiment he underwent in the manga but was talking about it as if it was about to happen. Then they mentioned the Hero Commission Project (what the students were on the island for) a chapter or two later. Plus the movie has hints of things from that arc and shortly before sprinkled in for manga readers to notice. They changed the look of some characters slightly to not spoil anime-only fans though. So timeline wise this movie is after the last arc in season 5 but since the studio rearranged that arc with another for the third movie, it technically still fits the timeline just fine.
