Laughing Meloni (Patreon)

iPad for Christmas! My awesome pal Richard from MyFriendsFeet was kind enough to gift me with an older iPad he was getting rid of. I got myself an Apple pencil and Procreate and started playing around. I think this might be a game changer.

You might have noticed when I switched to making all digital art, the line quality suffered a bit. I had been using a Wacom tablet and my laptop using hand/eye coordination to do the line drawings instead of doing pencil drawings first. Now that I have this iPad, I can draw directly on the screen.

The sketch I've just done is my first attempt at using Procreate. I call it "Laughing Meloni". I had a bunch of images of him handy from my last drawing and did a quick sketch of him. The line work feels so much more like my older stuff, more like a pencil drawing.

My update will be a little late this week, most likely Friday or Saturday because I really want to do the next one using this technique, but there's a bit of a learning curve involved.
