Violet Evergarden is indeed a kyoani show. In my opinion visuiallly it is the most beautiful anime series of alltime. (Unfair to compare it with anime movies like "your name", the budget for these movies is probably 10 times more than for this show) Netflix bought only bought the rights to the series.

I can definitely see that being the case. It felt like the entire episode was movie quality and I'd agree that this is definitely one of the most visually beautiful anime I've seen to date.
