Ruined Abbey (Patreon)

Hi folks! This week we have an old & creepy "Ruined Abbey" (25x38) map for you.

The old abbey, which has the best years of splendour behind it. In the past crowds used to gather here to celebrate the coming of summer or to worship the deities. Now a place inhabited by the forces of evil, mocking order and life... 

The abbey was once a refuge for everyone - the poor, the travelers, even the outlaws. Everyone within its walls could count on care and equal treatment.

Abbot Maldrey gave generously to all who left his temple, and the spirits and gods seeing his pure heart rewarded him with abundant crops. Unfortunately, everything changed when the abbot had to leave his domain for reasons known only to him.

He disappeared virtually without a word, and his disciples could not match his holiness. They began to charge fees and accumulate wealth, and they began to sell off gifts from the gods instead of distributing them to the needy.

This left a loophole for abuse, and after time when the abbey lost its last servant loyal to the old abbot, the area began to fall into poverty. The priests, seeing their divine favor deserted, tried to return to their former ways, but were punished all the more severely for their false goodness.

Maldrey's search was unsuccessful, and the aging monastery had turned into a den frequented only by those with no good intentions. The priests who remained in place indulged in dark gods and rituals in search of power and pleasure, and in the end brought them all doom, cursing the abbey and destroying ties with magical creatures in whose place demons and cursed spirits took their place.

One day a loud bang came from the side of the abbey, and a terrible storm raged over the place where he was, which did not leave the clearing where the temple complex was located for several nights.

Only when it calmed down did anyone decide to check if there was anyone left alive at the site, but the demonic symbols visible from afar scared off any daredevils and for a long time the place has stood forgotten, perhaps waiting for the return of the former abbot.
