Viking Longhouse, a Collaboration with Adventure Music (Patreon)

The howling wind was hitting the wooden walls of the longhouse, as the last Vikings were entering the room. The inside of the building was covered in the reddish light of the bonfires scattered around the place, but the throne of the earl is additionally enlightened by the moonlight shining through the ceiling.

 Every conversation had been silenced by the closing doors. After few seconds the man sitting on the throne stood up and his loud, raspy voice filled every corner of the building.

  Brothers! Sisters! - even with eyes covered by cataract he was looking straight into the faces of the people in the crowd.

  I feel the grasp of the death on my throat, it’s coming for me slowly, but inevitably. My days will soon pass, but I can’t leave the clan without a strong leader. - with those words, his daughters came from behind, holding pieces of ancient, magical armor.

Designed to look like a bear, changing shape to suit its wearer - now in three pieces.
 - For the people from the far South, here are the pieces protecting the legs, as you protect the fundaments of our tribe. With you, our nation will stand strong and will achieve great things in the future. Warriors, this one is for you.
 - Those who care for the burning heart of our land, you get the chest plate, which covers your own brave hearts. Mothers and fathers, this one is for you.
 - And the last one, the helmet of truth. Protects the head and shows the power of those who chose the mind over the sword. Craftsmen, priests, adepts, this one is for you.

As he spoke the girls were walking around the room, giving the pieces of shiny armor to the surprised guests and every word from his mouth was weaker and weaker, but his eyes were still very much alive.

 - Next person who will sit on this throne has to collect all the pieces and come back to me. I’ll be there, waiting. It may take days, years, centuries! Snow may cover this house, wars can destroy this land, but my spirit will be there for your sons and daughters, ready for the worthy one.

Legends say that the old man is waiting for the person who collected all the pieces to this day, but no one saw any sign of this armor for ages. Maybe you will be the one to find it?

How does this encounter end?
