So Patreon has been embroiled in some bullshit as of late.

For those unaware they've been policing artists that have a more anime-esque style, myself included.

Characters like Riley have big ol heads and eyes, and aren't packing much heat in the tiddies and hips department, so Patreon views them as potentially underage. They do not back down when demanding you remove artwork they don't like, on Patreon or any other website.

They've also recently lost a large lawsuit-

-and there's a general vibe of unease and whispers of bankruptcy on social media.

With all of this in mind, I had planned on moving fully to SubscribeStar. But there are some snags that come with that.

-I haven't gone through a full month with Substar yet, so I've no experience with their payout system. It's timing, how reliable it is. Though I believe I have to have a minimum of $150 pledged before I can withdraw the money.

-There is a 5MB limit on upload files, which is a big bad. Especially if I'm going to switch over to paid content like I mentioned on my Twitter. https://twitter.com/Pudge_Ruffian/status/1295840012383203330

If I can't upload the full res pics to Substar, then it kinda defeats the purpose of having a paywall.

I could set up a Discord server, but that adds a whole other layer of moderation and management headaches to make it work.

Substar also isn't as popular or well known as Patreon and it doesn't accept Paypal. It'll be a slow grind to even get back to the level I'm at with Patreon.

Pixiv Fanbox would require me to censor my content, and they reportedly have issues charging foreigners cards and banks.

I may just have to stick with Patreon for the time being, unless I can find an alternative.

Any suggestions?

I've seen other artists worrying about this and I guess my suggestions is for now "don't panic". You can ask your patrons to move to substar if they can, I'd be happy to I have both accounts. You can get arround the 5MB upload limit by putting your art in Dropbox or Mega, some artists I follow already do that so they can do massive art dumps with their patrons. Hope both those ideas help! Whatever you do, don't rush and leave things open as long as they let you. Nothing might come out of it.

Have you considered OnlyFans? They do not seem to be as restrictive as SubscribeStar. But I'm only a subscriber there, not a creator, so I have no idea.

I only know a handful of artists on Onlyfans but they haven't had any issues as far as I'm aware.

There's a service called Sponsus that's not as popular but might fit your requirements; it might be worth looking into it. In the meantime, we can also hope that patreon stop being stupid.

You could still use SubscribeStar and upload the full res images to a cloud storage service, post the lower res but include a link to the high res copy. Wherever you go please be sure to give us as much notice as possible so we can re-pledge elsewhere!

onlyfans would be a good one i think because you could post to it like its twitter but with a paywall i follow a couple people there and thats how they treat it

I think sticking with Patreon for now is probably wise

Patreon is not going to stop being stupid, they have been snowballing stupid for many years now.

I really like Riley with the see-through shirt. The gossamer outline looks very, very cool over her (amazing!) bod. Bea looks AMAZING with those tanlines.

Patreon is nice because it has a handy mobile app (Discord is good too) but that said I patronize artists on SubscribeStar, Fanbox, and directly through Discord as well. Not adverse to a new service either. Will probably switch to SubStar end of this month, sounds like that's your preference.

You wouldn't be the first on substar

It occurs to me that, if you are considering Discord as an add-on to SubscribeStar, you could possibly bypass some of Patreon's annoying qualities by using discord here. I know they connect in a super convenient fashion, and you can easily restrict parts of the discord to only certain patreon tiers. That is, if you feel like the size and publicity of Patreon is worth it. Personally, I would find it to be pretty tedious if I had to a different website to see the full-res images. I also have a lot of professional experience with Discord, so it's not really a big deal to me, I know that might be different for you.
