**Chapter 1: What Do You Want?**

The Imperial Capital, Wang Jiao Pavilion Mental Hospital.

Overcast sky.

In the courtyard where patients were allowed to move around, there was someone stationed to watch over. A girl had been leaning against the wall, looking up at the sky for the entire morning.

She had a pair of beautiful phoenix eyes, an oval face, and outstanding features. However, her eyes were hazy and dull, lacking the usual luster, and her face remained expressionless.

She appeared as lifeless as a piece of wood, devoid of vitality.

Doctors and nurses were already used to this. If one were to say she was mentally disturbed, she seemed to be capable of everything. If one were to consider her normal, a normal person wouldn't behave like her, and she rarely spoke.

If it weren't for the records in her medical history, they might have thought she was mute.

Moreover, she had been here for many years. She was sent in at the age of twelve, and now at nineteen, her uncle was finally coming to take her away this afternoon.

"I heard this uncle's family is quite wealthy. Why have we never seen him visit her? Jiang Chenchen lost her parents at the age of six due to an accident. It's quite pitiful."

"Oh, human relationships are just like that. Nowadays, even real siblings may not get along well, let alone a daughter of the brother."

"Why would he suddenly decide to take her back? Could it be a sudden realization of conscience?"

"Shh... The director is here."

Beside the director was another person, a young man who walked with them. He was exceptionally tall, with cold and stern features, handsome yet aloof.

The gloomy weather around him seemed to intensify, and he exuded an aura that was not to be trifled with—a sense of dark and deep despair.

He scanned the courtyard before finally fixing his gaze on Jiang Chenchen, who was leaning against the wall.

"Is that her?"

The director nodded quickly, "Yes, that's her."

The young man named Sheng Mingsi walked toward Jiang Chenchen.

Some of the doctors whispered among themselves, "Is this Jiang Chenchen's uncle? He's so young and handsome!"

"Don't talk nonsense! This is Young Master Sheng from the Sheng family, not some uncle!"

"Sheng... Mingsi!?"

...

Sheng Mingsi approached Jiang Chenchen, maintaining some distance before coldly asking, "What did my father say to you that day?"

Jiang Chenchen's line of sight was blocked, forcing her to look at him. In her confused mind, she suddenly recalled some images upon seeing his eyes.

She froze.

Her expression was already vacant, and at this moment, it remained unchanged.

After a few seconds, she spoke.

"I seem to have seen you before?"

Her voice was not loud, and due to not speaking for a long time, it sounded hoarse and awkward. However, the director and the doctors nearby all heard it.

They were all stunned.

It was indeed strange to hear this girl speak.

Sheng Mingsi felt that such an opening wasn't anything novel. However, considering she was a patient, he softened his tone a bit, "As long as you tell me what my father said to you that day and what you want, I'll give you anything."

"Ice cream."

"What?" Sheng Mingsi met her excessively dull gaze and realized, "Fine, I'll buy you as much ice cream as you want."

It was early winter, overcast, not suitable for eating ice cream.

However, Sheng Mingsi still ordered various flavors of ice cream to be delivered.
