Chapter 2447: Extra - The Lectures Begin

When Shu Yu left the palace, her expression was somewhat complex.

Seeing her expression, Meng Yunzheng couldn't help but smile and asked, "What's wrong? Do you feel that the Emperor recognizing our daughter as a foster child is inappropriate?"

Shu Yu sighed and leaned against the swaying carriage, whispering, "Not exactly. I just think that Mengmeng already has so many people who care for her. Adding two more with the most prestigious statuses as her supporters, won't she be soaring to the heavens in the future?"

Meng Yunzheng chuckled and said, "You're overthinking it. With us by her side, we'll make sure she stays on the right path."

Shu Yu chuckled, "Let me correct that, remove the 'us.'"

Meng Yunzheng touched his nose, knowing it was better not to say anything more.

The next day, as expected, the Emperor announced the imperial edict during the morning court session, praising the contributions Meng Yunzheng had made over the years. Besides some rewards of gold, silver, and precious jewels, the edict declared that Mengmeng would be adopted as a foster daughter, along with granting Meng Yunzheng a significant imperial edict.

The court officials were greatly surprised. Four years ago, when Meng Yunzheng had resigned as a high scholar, he had a conversation with the Emperor about his contributions. Most people had already guessed that their relationship was extraordinary, and they had speculated that the Emperor's rise to the throne must have had something to do with Meng Yunzheng.

However, the Emperor had never mentioned this matter, and Meng Yunzheng had smoothly returned to being a Academy Headmaster. It seemed as though this matter had been forgotten. This had left deep doubts in the minds of many.

Who would have expected that four years later, the Emperor would suddenly bring this matter up again, acknowledging not only Meng Yunzheng's contributions but also his and Shu Yu's role in suppressing the rebellion of the Second and Third Princes.

Qi Chan was particularly regretful. If Meng Yunzheng hadn't resigned back then, with his status as the top scholar in the imperial examination, combined with his contributions over the years, he might have been promoted several ranks by now.

After this day, Meng Yunzheng's residence was no longer peaceful.

Visitors came one after another, with some openly coming to congratulate him, while others indirectly indicated that they wanted to discuss academic matters with the Headmaster.

These people all understood that even if Meng Yunzheng didn't hold an official position in the court, the Emperor had never forgotten him. Moreover, his position in the Emperor's heart was exceptional.

In the following days, Meng Yunzheng mostly stayed at his residence.

Shu Yu, on the other hand, with her veil on, visited many familiar faces in the city.

The young girl had received so many gifts that her hands were full. She still didn't understand the change in her status as the Little Princess, only that she had met too many people, and her brain couldn't keep up.

So, Shu Yu decided to take her out of the city to play. She brought along Huo Huo, Dou Dou, and Ma Wen, Fang Xiyue's child. This group of young children, full of energy, almost destroyed the carriage with their antics.

Shu Yu was nearly exhausted when she decided to take them back.

As for the lectures at the Pavilion, they finally began.

This lecture was the first since the Emperor's ascension to the throne and was called the Pavilion lecture. Though it was called a lecture, it was more of a grand cultural exchange and discussion event, making it exceptionally magnificent. The lectures lasted for three days without interruption.

After this Pavilion lecture, there would be a formal Pavilion lecture system established. At that time, it wouldn't be as grand as this one but would become a regular occurrence.

The lecture venue was in the palace, and Meng Yunzheng, Master Hejiang and others had set off early.

Shu Yu took several children and headed to the Haina Tea House. Meanwhile, the scholars from the Zhenglu Academy followed them.
