Chapter 2362: Deviating from the Plan

Upon hearing this, Rong Hou couldn't help but narrow his eyes. "From what you're saying, does that mean there's a different plan coming in a few days?"

Meng Yunzheng naturally couldn't reveal the plan to him, so he just said, "You'll find out when the time comes."

Rong Hou pressed his lips together. "It's better that you have complete confidence in this plan; otherwise..."

Otherwise, he didn't know what would happen.

After a few more days, the Cheng family members had fully recovered their strength, and even Cheng Xian's injuries had improved significantly. He was now able to sit up without any issues.

Just when Cheng Wu was growing increasingly suspicious of Rong Hou and planning to find an excuse to leave, Meng Yun Zheng heard the loud calls of a street vendor from outside the Cheng mansion.

"Selling tea leaves! Last day for a big discount! We won't set up tomorrow because it's going to rain!"

The voice was loud, and by the time it reached Meng Yunzheng, it had become quite faint. Fortunately, the guards inside the Cheng mansion remained silent, and the entire mansion was quiet. Even though the voice from outside was distant, it was still audible.

Meng Yun Zheng's body instantly tensed up. This was the secret code he and Qi Lie had agreed upon. "Last day" signified that they were taking action the next day, and "rain" meant that a storm was coming.

He exchanged a glance with Shu Yu, and she discreetly retrieved several needles and blades from her hair, distributing them among the Cheng family members to their astonishment. How did she have weapons?

Shu Yu explained, "When they searched us, they only took off the hairpins from my head and didn't find these hidden in my hair. Hold on to them for self-defense."

Prefect Magistrate Cheng was shocked but didn't ask further questions. Instead, he tightly gripped the needle in his hand.

Shu Yu said, "We're going to escape."

Prefect Magistrate Cheng widened his eyes and then looked up at the ceiling. Meng Yunzheng assured him, "It's okay; there's no one on the roof."

Prefect Magistrate Cheng breathed a sigh of relief, but he still held the needle tightly. He anxiously asked, "How do we escape? Even if there's no one on the roof, the outside is crawling with guards. We'd be like sitting ducks once we step out."

"Don't worry; we have people."

Prefect Magistrate Cheng understood. He didn't ask further questions and only whispered, "Tell us what we need to do and how to cooperate. We'll follow your lead."

Meng Yunzheng gathered everyone in the room. "Among us, half know martial arts. When we act, you will follow my instructions. As for Madam Cheng, protect Cheng Xian and hide behind us. When we leave, immediately close the door and don't let anyone in..."

He began to finalize the plan, and the others listened and nodded, their expressions extremely serious. They all knew that this might be their only chance. If they couldn't succeed, they would all die here this time.

By evening, Shu Yu met with Rong Hou once more.

Shortly after, Rong Hou brought over Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng's sleeve arrows, Zhao Xi's medicine bag, as well as the weapons belonging to Ying Xi and Xia Yan. As for the weapons of the Cheng family members, he didn't take them because they were stored in different places due to the varying durations of their captivity. He only gave them two daggers.

The next morning, Meng Yun Zheng reviewed the plan with everyone once more and then waited in the room, ready for action.

The male members of the Cheng family had already positioned themselves in front of the women. Cheng Xian regretted being injured, preventing him from participating in the action.

As noon approached, the sound of footsteps suddenly came from outside, followed by the voices of Rong Hou and Cheng Wu.

Meng Yunzheng furrowed his brows, and Shu Yu stood up, asking, "What's going on? Why did Cheng Wu come here?"

This was deviating from the plan.
