Chapter 2181: Shopkeeper Yun Qide

Xiang Weinan still felt somewhat vexed. He sat across from Meng Yunzheng and pushed a clean teacup toward him.

Meng Yunzheng smiled and poured tea into the cup. "Thank you."

Xiang Weinan scoffed but remained silent.

Meng Yunzheng looked at Yun Qide and said, "Shopkeeper Yun, please have a seat."

"Thank you." Yun Qide sat down.

"Although Lord Xiang brought you here," Meng Yunzheng began, "I still want to ask if you are willing to become the shopkeeper at AH Yu's store."

"I am willing," Yun Qide replied.

Meng Yunzheng then looked at Shu Yu and said, "It's your turn." After all, it was her store, and they needed to discuss things among themselves.

Shu Yu didn't hesitate. She asked Yun Qide, "Has Lord Xiang told you about our family's situation?"

Before Yun Qide could respond, Xiang Weinan chimed in, "There's no need for me to explain; he knows quite well. On the night the shop on Futai Street was bought, he already inquired about it. Later, when he found out it was you who purchased it, he specifically asked me what kind of business that shop was doing."

Now, in retrospect, Xiang Weinan wondered if Yun Qide had already been planning to switch jobs at that time.

Shu Yu understood. "Even though you know, I'll make it clear. Our store is newly opened, and we don't have a strong foundation in the capital. It's still under renovation, and once that's done, we'll have our goods delivered. I'll be staying in the capital for a few months until the business stabilizes, then I'll leave. So, this store in the capital will be under your full responsibility in the future. Any issues that arise will be for you to handle."

Yun Qide looked serious and straightened his back a bit. "Rest assured, Miss Lu, I understand."

He then hesitated slightly before asking, "Miss Lu mentioned earlier that she would leave in a few months. Does Young Master Meng plan to do the same?"

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng exchanged a glance; Yun Qide was indeed perceptive.

Meng Yunzheng nodded. "Yes."

Yun Qide was mildly surprised. Wasn't Young Master Meng participating in the Emperial examination? If everything went well, he might stay in the capital to serve as an official.

Although he had questions in his mind, Yun Qide didn't press further. Some things would become clear with time.

Shu Yu asked Yun Qide a few more questions and realized he had a deep understanding of the capital's situation. He had been closely monitoring thriving businesses and had a comprehensive grasp of the target customer base.

It made sense why Xiang Weinan was reluctant to let him go.

Shu Yu didn't bring up the matter of compensation. Yun Qide's salary at the Xiang family was certainly not low. She would have to ask Xiang Weinan later; she couldn't shortchange this talent.

Seeing that they had concluded their discussion, Xiang Weinan stood up and said, "Although the person is returning to you, he needs to explain the follow-up plans for our business before that."

He then turned to Yun Qide. "You have half a month. Find a suitable shopkeeper and train them. Don't ruin the good business I've built."

"Lord Xiang, I already have a candidate in mind."

Xiang Weinan chuckled. He suspected Yun Qide had already been planning to switch jobs earlier.

Regardless, he left with Yun Qide, who would need to find a suitable replacement for himself. Xiang Weinan would personally train and assess the candidate. They needed to pass his standards before they could take over.

As they watched the two of them leave in haste, Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng exchanged another glance and continued their meal.

With the shopkeeper matter settled, Shu Yu felt relieved. They could take their time to select the right employees; those who were suitable would be retained.
