Chapter 1914: Early Marriage

After Shu Yu left, the villagers of Tuqiao Village erupted into a heated discussion.

They had been waiting outside the door, and as soon as Shu Yu's carriage left, they immediately entered and asked Zhou Tiedong's mother about the situation.

These matters were not secretive, and it was a joyous occasion. Zhou Tiedong's mother, brimming with excitement, shared the news that Zhou Tiedong had been recruited by the county princess to work as an assistant in the city.

Everyone found it incredible; Zhou Tiedong's luck had truly turned around, going from hardship to prosperity.

Wang Yue's parents were also among the crowd and were delighted to hear the news, but they soon had some concerns.

Upon seeing them, Zhou Tiedong's mother immediately pulled them aside to discuss the matter of their children's marriage. According to her, the engagement between the young couple had seen its share of ups and downs, and it was best to settle it early. After all, they had originally planned to marry this year, and all the preparations had been made. By advancing the timeline, Zhou Tiedong could work diligently once they were married, and perhaps they could even buy a house in the city in the future.

Wang Yue's parents didn't disagree. They had worried that with Zhou Tiedong gaining the county Princess's favor and the family having some wealth, coupled with his job in the city, his future prospects would surely surpass those of Chen Qiu in Chen's grocery store. They were concerned about potential complications in their daughter's marriage with Zhou Tiedong.

With Zhou Tiedong's mother's approval, both families began preparing for the wedding in earnest. As soon as Zhou Tiedong was feeling better, they would marry immediately, and he could take Wang Yue to the city with him.

Shu Yu was unaware of these developments as she quickly arrived in the city.

Upon entering the inn, the innkeeper's assistant approached her and said, "County Princess, there are several people here today who say they've come in response to your job postings, looking to be hired as shopkeepers and assistants."

Shu Yu frowned; she had indeed posted two notices outside the shop before leaving. However, the notices clearly stated that interviews would be conducted on the twentieth day of the first lunar month, and today was only the seventeenth.

"Seems like these people couldn't wait and want to meet you in person. Who knows, they might get hired on the spot," Lu Erbai speculated.

"I don't have time to wait for them at the inn," Shu Yu told the innkeeper's assistant. "If more applicants come, just tell them that the notices state the twentieth day of the first lunar month, and that's what it will be. Besides, this inn is a place for rest, and the job interviews will take place at the shop on Fu Yuan Street."

"Understood, I won't let them disturb you, County Princess."

"Thank you," Shu Yu nodded in acknowledgment and then proceeded to the backyard.

Anyone else who arrived was intercepted by the inn's assistant.

Shu Yu had a lot to attend to, starting with renovating the shop. She showed Lu Erbai the simple drawings she had made earlier and explained in detail the desired outcome.

Lu Erbai now had a clear understanding of the style Shu Yu wanted, and there was no need for further explanation.

So, the next day, Shu Yu and Lu Erbai left early and headed straight for Aunt He's house.

She knew the address of Aunt He's house, but the road was somewhat challenging, full of twists and turns. After quite a while, they finally arrived at Aunt He's doorstep.

Aunt He's family was quite large, with more than ten members, including sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and more. Therefore, standing at the door, they could hear a lively commotion from inside.

They knocked on the door for quite some time, but the noisy voices from inside drowned out their attempts to be heard.
