Chapter 1907: Selecting the Storefront

The second storefront was surprisingly near the inn where Shu Yu and the others were staying.

This street was bustling as well, and the store had an area of about three hundred square meters.

Shu Yu wondered if Qi Lie considered that she didn't have a house in Changjin Prefecture, so the three storefronts he selected all came with a backyard. This way, she would have a place to rest when she came over.

Shu Yu was quite satisfied with the second storefront in terms of size and layout.

The only downside was that there were many inns and restaurants nearby, leading to heavy traffic and many carriages passing by. Some people were stopping at the restaurants for meals, while others parked their carriages near the inn's backyard due to a lack of space.

These carriages were often parked nearby, blocking the entrances of some storefronts.

After a quick stroll inside the store, Shu Yu walked out only to find that there was barely any space at the entrance. She had to squeeze her way out. Looking at the nearby cosmetics and fabric shops, she could only see the tops of their signboards.

Even if customers promised to come out in a while, just stopping momentarily would still affect business.

This wouldn't work, so Shu Yu shook her head. "Let's go, to the third storefront."

The third storefront was larger than the previous two, spanning three hundred and fifty square meters, and the most important aspect was its corner location.

This location connected two streets, making it visible from any direction.

The store also had a sizable backyard. It used to be a fabric shop, so there was a large warehouse in the back. The warehouse had been designed meticulously to keep the fabric dry and tidy, safeguarded against moisture, snakes, rodents, and ants.

For Shu Yu, it was almost too good to be true.

Given that they would need to transport a large quantity of goods here later on, having a substantial inventory was crucial. An inadequate or damp and disorganized warehouse would not suffice.

This place was perfect.

Seeing the sparkle in her eyes, Meng Yunzheng knew she was satisfied. "Have you made a choice?"

"Yes, this place."

"I knew you would like it." When Qi Lie was choosing the storefronts, he had taken Meng Yunzheng along.

Meng Yunzheng had also been drawn to this one at first glance, but Qi Lie thought having only one option wasn't enough. He found two other storefronts that he thought were great and added them to the selection.

After going back and forth, they eventually settled on this particular one that suited them best.

"This storefront is quite clean. After a bit of cleaning and some minor modifications, it should be ready for opening soon."

Shu Yu nodded. "I just don't know any craftsmen in this area. Although my father is skilled, he doesn't have the manpower or time here. I'll need to find someone else."

"About the craftsmen, don't worry. Do you remember Aunt He?"

"I do." When Meng Yunzheng participated in the county examination before, he rented a house in Changjin Prefecture and hired Aunt He to do housework.

"Aunt He's elder brother is a craftsman. I've seen a box that she had with her before, and it was made by her brother. The craftsmanship looked pretty good."

Shu Yu clasped her hands together. "Alright, I'll ask Aunt He first. Besides, my father is here, so I'll have him talk to Aunt He's brother." Her father was a professional, and he could easily gauge the other person's skill with a few words.

The renovation of the storefront was now underway, and the next step was...

"We also need to find a shopkeeper and assistants. I have someone in mind for the assistant position, but finding a suitable shopkeeper isn't easy. I don't know anyone experienced enough and capable of managing the store independently in Changjin Prefecture."
