Chapter 1904: Qi Lie Looking for Shu Yu with Good News

Shu Yu returned to the city in a hurry these past few days, busy with traveling and organizing. She hadn't had a chance to properly observe the changes in Changjin Prefectural city.

Perhaps due to the aftermath of the rebellion, Changjin Prefecture, once bustling, seemed to have settled down, exuding a more stable atmosphere.

However, this newfound calmness gave it an aura of stability.

Even Shu Yu's mood had become more peaceful. Shu Rui and Er Niu had decided to explore on their own halfway through their journey, so she waved them off and slowly made her way back to the inn with Ying Xi.

To her surprise, as soon as she entered the backyard, she saw Xia Yan waiting for her.

"Why are you here? Did Ah Yun send you for something?" Shu Yu inquired.

Xia Yan shook his head. "No, Miss, it's Lord Qi who wants to see you at the prefectural office."

"Lord Qi wants to see me?"

"Yes, he said there's some good news he'd like to discuss with you."

Good news? What good news could Qi Lie possibly have? Shu Yu wanted to gather some information from Xia Yan, but he seemed just as clueless.

"Alright," Shu Yu stood up. "Let's go to the prefectural office."

When she arrived at the office, Meng Yunzheng was also present, seated in Qi Lie's study with a rather helpless expression.

Shu Yu was becoming increasingly perplexed. She glanced at Meng Yunzheng and took a seat in an adjacent chair.

As soon as she settled, Qi Lie smiled. "Miss Lu, I have some good news, and I thought of you first. Isn't that considerate of me?"

Shu Yu's lip twitched. She wasn't a naive child, and Qi Lie, a seasoned politician, wouldn't be so eager to summon her without a good reason.

She straightened her posture, her lips curved in a businesslike smile. "I'm curious to know what this good news is that made Lord Qi so eager to see me."

Qi Lie pretended not to notice her perfunctory smile and lifted several papers from the table. "Take a look, Miss Lu. Are you interested in these?"

Shu Yu walked over and examined the papers. To her surprise, they were property deeds.

"What are these?"

Qi Lie took a sip of tea and explained, "At the end of last year, many officials in Changjin Prefecture were dismissed, and their properties, as well as those associated with them, were confiscated after their convictions. The properties they owned, including these shops, are now up for auction to replenish the treasury. I thought of you because your workshop in Dong'an Prefecture has grown quite large. I heard that your business in the Dong'an city has also stabilized. With your skills, it might be the right time to expand, and here are ready-made shops."

Shu Yu was taken aback. Opening a shop in Changjin Prefecture? She had considered it last year, but she temporarily abandoned the idea when she noticed something amiss in the spice trade at the time. Today, she had a good look at the capital city, and indeed, Changjin Prefecture was an excellent place for doing business. Even if Qi Lie hadn't brought it up, Shu Yu would have considered it. With her workshop growing larger and the production of items like sunflower seeds increasing, opening a shop in this bustling city seemed like a promising venture.
