Chapter 1896: The Last Conversation

Chen Bing remained collapsed on the ground, looking up in a daze at the three people approaching him.

ShuYu ú stood to the side, accompanied by the old lady and Grandma Fang.

Grandma Lu had a triumphant expression, and she scolded harshly, "Serves you right. I always said that evil begets evil. Did you really think you could escape from the consequences of your despicable actions? Pah, you wretched creature."

Chen Bing's eyes turned red as he glared at her, but to his surprise, Grandma Lu took a step back, making way for Grandma Fang beside her.

Grandma Fang clenched her fists, her emotions not as calm as they appeared on the surface.

She crouched down, looking Chen Bing straight in the eye, and in a measured tone, she said, "Chen Bing, this is probably the last time I'll ever speak to you. Seeing you like this, I'm delighted, truly delighted. For over thirty years, I've harbored this hatred in my heart. Now, seeing you in this miserable state, it's incredibly satisfying."

"You..."

"Back then, you used the excuse of my inability to conceive to divorce me, ha, but it turns out you're the one who's truly unable to have children. At least I've lived openly and honestly after leaving you. And you? You've been unfaithful all over, fathering children with someone else for more than twenty years, even having grandchildren. You, well, your life is nothing short of a joke."

"A joke." Shu Rui had entered the courtroom at some point and stood behind Grandma Fang, laughing at Chen Bing.

"A joke." Er Niu followed closely.

"A big joke." Da Bao chimed in without hesitation.

Shu Yu rubbed her chin, wondering if she should add something.

Chen Bing stared at them, feeling his blood boiling. He felt a rush of blood to his throat, unable to suppress it any longer, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.

Quick on the draw, Shu Yu pulled grandma Lu and Grandma Fang a couple of steps back. "Is it necessary to get so worked up? Although Chen He and Chen Qiu are not your children, you've been their father for so many years. And that Pan family's steward has also suffered a loss; he has children but can't acknowledge them. How miserable. In life, one should be more open-minded and considerate; blood relations are not the only important factor, right?"

"Ah…" Chen Bing's eyes rolled back, and he fainted.

Shu Yu frowned. Never mind, it might not be wise to continue. After all, it wouldn't be good if he was angered to death.

The old lady seemed somewhat regretful. "I still had more to say. How could he faint so soon? What a useless man. No wonder he can't accomplish anything and can only run a small grocery store, am I right, sister?"

Grandma Fang nodded in agreement.

The onlookers and officials nearby were left speechless. Who could withstand such a blow?

Chen Bing, who had fainted, was dragged away by the officials. He estimated that in about ten days or so, he would start his journey into exile.

Meanwhile, Pan Shi was still wailing and refusing to leave. She clung tightly to her eldest brother's arm, pleading, "Big brother, save me, I'm begging you, please save me. I really don't want to go to jail."

Eldest Master Pan's head was throbbing; he just wanted to hurry home and shut the door, blocking everyone's sight.

He looked up at the officials standing nearby, but they remained quiet, like wooden statues. They kindly gave them a chance to talk, allowing them to finish speaking before taking them away.

Seeing that he couldn't count on them, Eldest Master Pan could only soothe her in a low voice. "Little sister, this is the magistrate's ruling. There's nothing I can do. Rest assured, I'll arrange things for you, making you as comfortable as possible, giving you better food, and I won't neglect you."
