Chapter 1871: Chen Bing, Do You Remember Me?

Chen Bing groaned and moaned. After a while, he realized that no more punches were landing on him. With a fearful expression, he lifted his head and stared at the scene.

What he saw was Lu Sanzhu's fierce appearance and the exquisite embroidery on his belt. His mind was a bit slow to catch up; he still hadn't figured out how he had offended this group of people.

It was clear that these people weren't ordinary folks. Judging from their attire and skills, they must have some wealth.

The courtyard was in chaos. The Chen family members managed to break free from Ying Xi's grip and rushed to Chen Bing's side.

Pan Shi raised her head and cursed vehemently, "You bastards! If anything happens to my husband, we won't let you get away with it!"

Chen Bing held her back, panting heavily and looking furious.

Supported by Shu Yu, Grandma Lu walked up to him and, not wanting to show weakness, viciously kicked him.

"Ah..." Everyone was surprised that Grandma Lu would use her foot, and she had actually managed to kick him squarely.

Pan Shi glared angrily and was about to rush forward, thinking that she could surely overpower the young men. However, before she could act, Ying Xi caught hold of her hand.

"Hey, hey, let go."

Ying Xi pushed her aside, and Pan Shi fell into Chen Qiu's arms.

She felt an intense sense of hatred and whispered to Chen Qiu, "These people are no good. They have the numbers advantage. We'll likely end up at a disadvantage. Hurry and find Lord Xun. Didn't you say he has connections with the yamen? Get him to help us."

Chen Qiu nodded repeatedly, "Alright, I'll go right now."

Chen Qiu cast a cautious glance at the Lu family members, sneaking toward the gate.

Shu Yu noticed and roughly understood that she was going to get reinforcements.

With a scoff, Shu Yu retracted her gaze.

After the elderly lady had kicked Chen Bing, she finally seemed less agitated. Glaring at the man lying on the ground, she sternly scolded, "Chen Bing, you ungrateful wretch, do you still remember me?"

Ungrateful wretch again?

Many neighbors had secretly come in to watch the spectacle. Since the fighting had stopped, there was no danger, and now it was time for some gossip.

Even the Pan family members frowned and turned their attention to Chen Bing before looking back at the elderly lady.

The elderly lady and Chen Bing were roughly the same age. Although she had suffered quite a bit in her earlier years, she had been living comfortably for the past few years. Coupled with her good mood, the attentive care from Hua Xian, the medicinal prescriptions from Zhao Xi, and her filial grandchildren by her side, her life was increasingly satisfying. With all these factors combined, she naturally looked much younger.

Furthermore, her exquisite makeup and attire made her appear even younger than Pan Shi.

The neighbors' minds started to wander—could it be that the elderly lady had some past connection with Chen Bing?

Even Pan Shi looked at Chen Bing, then turned her gaze to the elderly lady, and asked, "Who is she?"

Chen Bing didn't recognize her at all. He squinted his eyes, sizing up the elderly lady for a while.

After all, they hadn't seen each other in over thirty years, and both of them had changed in appearance. Moreover, they hadn't met very often back then. Now, at a glance, how could he possibly recognize her? He wouldn't even begin to consider the possibility that she might have some connection to the Fang family.

He felt quite wronged. Facing the scrutinizing gazes of Pan Shi and the Pan family members, he protested loudly, "I don't know you at all. You've got the wrong person. I'm just getting beaten up for no reason."
