Chapter 1840: County princess of Wen'an Arrives

With Shu Yu's explanation, the members of the Lu family felt at ease.

They finally understood what had transpired in Chenggu County during this time, as well as the reasons for Shu Yu's appointment as a county princess and the rationale behind Meng Yunzheng's continued stay in the city.

Honestly, they were quite excited, especially the three young men of the Shu family. They couldn't help but ask repeatedly, "Can we go to the city of Changjin Prefecture?"

"Of course you can. You're out here to travel around after all, but you should go to Hedeng Village to see your Grand Aunt first tomorrow."

"Okay." They all agreed quickly.

That night, as expected, the Meng family's escort agency was lively. Apart from Meng Yunzheng, who hadn't returned yet, both the Meng and Lu families sat together for a rare meal, chatting until late into the night.

To Shu Yu's surprise, Meng Qi got along quite well with Da Bao.

It was strange to say, but neither of them enjoyed studying; one liked martial arts, and the other liked eating. Yet, their personalities were completely opposite, so how did they manage to hit it off?

Nevertheless, it was a good thing that the two families got along well.

After a night's rest, the Lu family, now well-rested, set out early the next morning with the somewhat impatient old lady, heading to Hedeng Village.

Their group consisted of about ten people, divided into two horse-drawn carriages.

Since arriving on the second day of the lunar new year, Shu Yu had been busy helping Tang Wenqian with his affairs and hadn't gone back to Hedeng Village. On the other hand, her Grand Aunt had visited the county a couple of times to see her.

Thus, when they returned to Hedeng Village this time, many of the villagers who knew she had become a county princess were instantly excited.

Starting from the entrance of the village, a crowd of people rushed over, asking about her well-being and expressing their concern, blocking their path.

Grandma Lu felt a bit anxious, but she had learned from Shu Yu the day before that her younger sister had relied on the villagers' care over the years for a stable life. She was grateful to them, so she immediately suppressed her inner anxiety, treating the situation as merely sightseeing in the village.

Shu Yu's carriage moved towards Grandma Fang's house at a turtle's pace. Meanwhile, some nimble children had already run to the houses of the old village chief and Grandma Fang to deliver the news.

Coincidentally, the elderly couple of the village chief was visiting Grandma Fang's house.

When the children arrived, they were discussing the handling of the courtyard.

Initially, Grandma Fang had rented the courtyard. However, after living there for a while and intending to settle down in the village permanently, the old village chief had sold it to her at a very low price, considering her comfort.

After the Lantern Festival on the fifteenth day of the lunar new year, Grandma Fang would have to leave Hedeng Village. She probably wouldn't return to live in this house again, so she thought of returning it to the old village chief.

The house was sold at the same price it was bought all those years ago. The old village chief, however, felt that she was at a loss. Not to mention the slight increase in property value over the years, the fact that the people in the surrounding villages all knew that Grandma Fang's maternal granddaughter was a county princess meant that her house had become quite popular. Even if the price was increased tenfold, it would probably still find a buyer.

The old village chief's suggestion was to not rush. Over the next couple of days, they would spread the word and see who was interested in buying the house. If they could sell it for a higher price, Grandma Fang would have more money on hand, which would provide her with a foundation when she returned to Dong'an Prefecture.

As they were discussing, several children burst in, eagerly shouting, "County princess is here, Lady Lu is here!"
