Chapter 951: Tang Shi

Shu Yu seemed to have not heard what he said and suddenly raised her head. "Wait, what about Old Man Cui's granddaughter?"

Jiang Gongzi was taken aback, realizing that he had forgotten about it.

That's right, Old Man Cui's granddaughter. She was just a five-year-old girl. Old Man Cui had been dead for two days, so where could the little girl have gone?
Jiang Gongzi immediately walked to the gate and asked the villagers who were still standing there, "Has anyone seen Old Man Cui's granddaughter?"

The crowd paused for a moment before shaking their heads in unison.

The woman next door slapped her thigh. "Don't they have anyone in their family? Could something have happened?"

Shu Yu made a decisive decision. "We'll search the house, and you can have people look around nearby."

The people at the gate instantly scattered, knocking on each door and calling out anyone inside to search for the little girl.

In a short while, anyone who had free time went to search.

Shu Yu and the others turned the Cui family's house upside down, searching every corner, including rice jars and small boxes, but there was no sign of her.

Shu Yu returned to the courtyard and looked at the bound woman.

Jiang Gongzi, sweating profusely, walked up to her and said, "We can only ask her."

"Yes, Ying Xi, wake her up."

This woman's surname was Tang, originally the daughter-in-law of the Wang family.

According to Shu Yu's uncle, the Wang family's son had lost one eye and was very self-conscious. He hardly went out or played with others. By chance, he met Tang Shi, who didn't look down on him like others did. She even encouraged and affirmed him.

This gradually made the Wang family's son happier, and when the Wang family wanted to find him a wife, he insisted on Tang shi.

When the Wang family went to propose the marriage, Tang Shi readily agreed without any hesitation.

The Wang family was relatively well-off, but because of their son's disability, they provided a generous dowry of ten taels of silver for Tang Shi, which was considered quite high in her village. Most families only gave three to five taels.

However, the Tang family was not well-off and did not have any dowry to offer.

But the Wang family's parents still treated this daughter-in-law well. As long as she treated their son well, they didn't expect anything else.

Who would have thought that three months after getting married, Tang Shi discovered where the Wang family hid their money and took all their wealth before eloping, completely disappearing.

The Wang family's parents were furious. Their son, who was already insecure, stopped leaving the house altogether. He blamed himself for inviting trouble by marrying Tang shi with ulterior motives, and felt responsible for allowing their parents' lifelong savings to be swindled away.

When the Wang family went to find the Tang family, they learned that Tang's parents had mistreated her. They had been planning to sell her for money as soon as she grew up. Tang shi herself had said she wanted to find a husband and claimed that there would be a dowry of ten taels of silver.

The Tang family thought that if the other party was willing to offer ten taels of silver, they must be wealthy. So, when their daughter proposed the idea, they agreed.

Little did they know that after Tang Shi got married, she didn't settle down peacefully. She not only ran off with her in-laws' money but also stole all of her parents' money.

However, since the Tang family was poor, even though they were stolen from, the losses weren't as significant as for the Wang family.

Now that Tang Shi had been found and had become a murder suspect, it was unclear whether she regretted her actions.

Ying Xi woke her up, and Tang shi furrowed her brows uncomfortably. When she opened her eyes and looked up, her expression changed drastically upon seeing the scene. Her instinct was to escape.

In her struggle, she realized she was tied up and saw Li Xiaoshan's lifeless body lying on the ground not far away.
