Chapter 942: The Fourth Property

Lu Sanzhu had complete trust in Shu Yu. If she said it was profitable to buy a house now, then it must be profitable.

He even entertained the thought of buying several properties. Perhaps he could sell them at a higher price in the future and make a significant profit.

But then he thought about it. He only had a little over forty taels of silver in his hands, and borrowing two hundred taels from Shu Yu was already the limit. If he borrowed more, he was afraid that he wouldn't even have enough to eat in the future, and his whole family would have to tighten their belts.

Most importantly, he didn't dare to default on the loan.

When Shu Yu heard that, she was about to leave. "Third Uncle, didn't you say you wanted to help with the work at our house? Go inside then. My father and the others are in there, and your nephew-in-law, Uncle Liang, is also helping."

Lu Sanzhu froze. He didn't come here to actually work.

His eyes darted around and landed on the mule cart nearby. He quickly asked, "Where are you going?"

"We're going to check out the estates that Daniu found." Shu Yu hopped onto the cart as she finished speaking.

Lu Sanzhu pushed Da Niu aside and climbed aboard himself. "Then I'll accompany you. I'm familiar with the area outside the city."

Da Niu, who was left behind, couldn't help but feel a headache. Yeah, there was nowhere you weren't familiar with.

Since everyone was on the cart, Shu Yu couldn't bring herself to ask him to get off.

Therefore, Da Niu, who knew the way, drove the cart, and the group headed straight for the city gate.

Da Niu found three or four estates, and each one had some flaws, to varying degrees, in his opinion.

But those were his thoughts. Perhaps Shu Yu found them acceptable, so they planned to visit all the estates.

The first estate was not far from the city gate. Shu Yu had passed by it before and had seen it.

The location of this estate was quite good, and the mansion was large. The price was also relatively cheap, but the only drawback was that it had too little farmland.

And that happened to be the point Shu Yu cared about the most.

Thus, without even meeting the homeowner of the first estate, she moved on to the next one.

The second estate had excessively moist land and was not suitable.

The third one was relatively acceptable, but there was a slope right in front of it. Sunflowers loved sunlight, but that slope blocked the sun, so at least half a day of sunlight was lost for the large piece of land below the slope.

After rejecting three estates, Shu Yu shook her head. Although Da Niu had mentally prepared himself, he couldn't help but become anxious. If the fourth one didn't work out, they would have to look for properties in more distant areas.

Shu Yu, on the other hand, wasn't worried. If they couldn't find a ready-made estate, she could always build one from scratch as long as they had land.

Daniu drove the cart, and the fourth estate was a bit far.

Shu Yu noticed that it was even farther than the black market she had visited earlier. After passing through the bamboo forest outside the black market, they still had to travel about four li (about two kilometers) before the cart finally came to a stop.

"This is the last one, and it's the one I scouted yesterday," Daniu introduced. "The land here is too dry, and it's far from a water source. So the crops have always had poor yields for years. The tenants couldn't even pay the rent for consecutive years, so the owner of the estate gave up and decided to sell it."

Shu Yu looked over and indeed saw a barren piece of land. It seemed they had no intention of planting crops anymore.

Currently, it was the busy farming season, and most households had already begun plowing and planting. Even the estates they had seen earlier, although they were planning to sell, still had crops growing on them.

Only this one before them had nothing. It seemed the landlord had completely given up on managing it.

Shu Yu crouched down and examined the soil.

Sunflowers didn't have high requirements for soil quality, so this piece of land was actually suitable. Moreover, there were no slopes blocking sunlight around it.
