Chapter 691: Farewell, Boss He

The main hall was crowded with people, their hands bound with ropes and panic written all over their faces as they huddled back as much as they could.

In the center of the interrogation hall, there was a stool with a person tied to it, appearing as if they were about to be executed but had been interrupted and hadn't had the chance yet.

The person let out a sigh of relief and slowly slid down from the stool, turning his head towards the direction of the door.

And then, he saw Shu Yu.

Shu Yu also saw him, and to her surprise, he was someone she knew—Boss He?

Boss He widened his eyes in shock, focusing his gaze solely on her. After all, among the group of people, she was the only woman, quite conspicuous.

"It's her," Boss He suddenly extended his bound hands and pointed at her. "Officer, it's her! She told me that I had offended someone and asked me to pay respects to Miss Min's grave. I have nothing to do with the Min family's murder case. If you capture her and interrogate her, you'll know the truth."

Shu Yu, "..."

The other constables present, "..."

Arresting someone in front of Magistrate Cheng, the high-ranking official who came along with them? Has Boss He lost his mind? How did he become a local gang leader?

Because of his interruption, Magistrate Cheng's anger subsided in an instant.

He turned his head and asked Shu Yu, "Do you know him? What's this about the Min family's murder case?"

Black lines appeared on Shu Yu's forehead as she awkwardly and briefly explained the situation.

Magistrate Cheng and Qi Chan found themselves at a loss for words.

"You, on the other hand, are quick-witted," Magistrate Cheng remarked.

Indeed, he had observed correctly. This young girl may be young, but she was resourceful and cunning.

Shu Yu explained earnestly, "Sir, Master Qi, I'm telling the truth. I've learned a bit of physiognomy, but I can only read the recent fortune of ordinary people. I can't read people as distinguished and imposing as you. You'd have to consult my master."

Magistrate Cheng and Qi Chan understood. It was indeed a makeshift plan she came up with under the threat of the local gang leader. This girl's intelligence was remarkable.

Shu Yu knew that neither of them truly believed her, but well, geniuses are often lonely, with no one who can truly understand them.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Cheng thought that he wouldn't mind helping Shu Yu a bit while he was at it. He looked at one of the constables standing nearby and asked, "Have you found anything from this person's interrogation?"

"Not yet, sir." The constable had been standing next to Shu Yu when she spoke and had heard everything clearly.

Magistrate Cheng glanced at the constable and didn't say much. He simply turned to his guards behind him and said, "Cheng Xian, I'll leave this to you. Question them thoroughly, and if there are solid suspicions, keep them detained. If there's no suspicion, release them all."

"Yes, sir."

After delivering a warning to the constables present, Magistrate Cheng turned to Yao Bo and asked, "Look around and see if your father is here."

Yao Bo nodded repeatedly and pointed to someone in the crowd. "He's there, right over there."

As Magistrate Cheng had been speaking with Shu Yu earlier, he had already started looking for Yao Tianqin.
