Chapter 631: Shu Yu Making Something

Inside the deep mountains, the prey was naturally more abundant than on the outskirts, and the traces were slightly more chaotic. However, Fang Xiyue's experience and carefulness allowed her to quickly discover the tracks of the prey.

When they successfully took down a deer, everyone present immediately cheered. It was still early afternoon, and they had already caught two big creatures.

Fang Xiyue and Shu Yu, the only two of them, didn't receive much help from Ma Lu and the others. Yet, within moments, they managed to secure a kill, with one focusing on offense and the other on support.

Ma Lu realized that he had underestimated them before. The two teams coordinated well and could exchange experiences. By the time they took down the third medium-sized prey, it was almost evening.

Shu Yu decided it was time to head back. Observing the time, Ma Lu couldn't help but curiously ask, "Do you have some obsession with the evening hours? I heard that you brought the prey back to the village right after catching it during the previous two days. Is today going to be the same?"

Shu Yu shook her head. "No obsession. There are some matters at home, and since we've already caught enough prey, it's better to return early."

Fang Xiyue glanced at her. Shu Yu was considering her situation. Fang Xiyue's mother had taken a day off yesterday and would definitely be back at work today, leaving only her father at home. Although Zhao Xi said he was fine, Fang Xiyue still worried. If they could return home early, it would be better.

Shu Yu asked Ma Lu and the others, "If you still want to continue hunting, feel free to do so. Fang Xiyue and I will take this deer back. Is that alright with you?"

Ma Lu naturally had no objections. The deer was caught by them alone, and even the third prey was taken down together by the two teams. Ma Lu thought for a moment, asked for the opinions of the others, and decided to stop hunting. They needed to make preparations for the big creature they were planning to hunt three days later.

Since they had caught enough prey early, they could take this opportunity to return home and complete other tasks. After discussing with both teams, they descended from the mountain.

The official on the village premises looked at them speechlessly. He felt that Shu Yu and the others were extraordinary. Not only did they appear punctually every evening, but now even Ma Lu and the others had returned early.

He pondered whether he had assigned them tasks that were too easy.

Seeing the official's expression, Shu Yu felt something was amiss. She thought it would be better to return a bit later tomorrow. Maybe Fang Xiyue's father would be in better condition by then.

On this day, Shu Yu managed to catch a wild rabbit. When she returned home, Zhao Xi hadn't come back yet. Da Ya had gone to the county town, so the house suddenly felt empty.

The rabbit was still alive and could be kept for a few days before eating. Shu Yu handed it over to San Ya and asked her to take it to play with Da Hu.

The two children quickly settled the rabbit in a corner of the courtyard and brought some vegetable leaves for it to eat.

Shu Yu busied herself with her own tasks. When Zhao Xi returned from the county town, he saw her squatting alone in a corner, seemingly engrossed in something.

Curious, he silently approached and stood behind her, observing. He saw that she was focused on manipulating... limestone?

"What are you doing?" Zhao Xi frowned.

Shu Yu seemed unfazed by the person standing behind her. She continued tinkering with the stone in her hand and said, "I'm planning to make something."

"What are you making?" Zhao Xi immediately squatted beside her, asking with curiosity.
