After hearing the news, the four girls quickly ran back to the Shu family's side, chattering away. Two of them immediately left the house.

Even if Shu Yu didn't pay attention, she couldn't avoid seeing the commotion.

She snorted and, along with Hou Shi, washed the corn and pumpkin, preparing to steam them directly.

Shu Yu planned to cook all the ingredients at once. With this weather, it would be fine to eat them for lunch tomorrow. Besides, she had work to do tomorrow and didn't have the energy to cook another meal.

Shu Yu shook her head. "Don't bother with them. Let's just focus on ourselves."

The three of them quickly cooked dinner and sat on the kitchen floor to eat.

Halfway through the meal, the Shu family members who had gone out to "borrow" food returned, but they all came back empty-handed.

The other Shu family members saw this and started making a fuss again.

While eating, Shu Yu and the others listened with amusement.

The Shu family members wanted to get some food from Shu Yu and the others, but as soon as they entered the kitchen and met Shu Yu's icy gaze, they couldn't say anything. The pain that had subsided in their bodies seemed to surge back, making them afraid to provoke her again.

The Shu family members slinked away, and after Shu Yu and the others finished eating and tidied up, the sky had already turned completely dark.

After entering the room, Hou Shi bolted the door, spread out the bedding with her daughter, and then comfortably climbed into bed, falling asleep.
