Chapter 53: be patient

"You came here to learn rules and calm your evil thoughts. The dormitory is behind. Go and find it yourself," the nuns said, turning their heads disdainfully and walking away.

Lan'er frowned and cursed at their figures, "You bunch of old nuns. Our young miss just came here to seek peace. Don't be too happy too soon!"

As soon as Gu Junyao stepped into the threshold, she was shocked by the dilapidated scene in front of her. "Lan'er, how can there be so many nuns here when this place is so rundown and old?"

Gu Junyao knew little about Qingping Temple, and Lan'er, carrying a bag, helped her walk inside. "Miss, you don't know. If it's a young master or young miss who has made a big mistake and has been kicked out of their home, they will be arranged to stay here."

"Really? Then won't they be...unable to go back?" Gu Junyao was a little scared, even her chin began to tremble uncontrollably. Lan'er furrowed her brows tightly and said, "We just don't know when the master will calm down his anger and promise to let the young miss go back."

"Hmph, if it weren't for Gu Yunru, how could I end up in a place like this?" Gu Junyao gritted her teeth and walked into the courtyard. The dilapidated room was obviously uninhabited for a long time. When the window was opened, a gust of cold wind blew in, making her shiver.

"Miss, why don't you sit and rest for a while? I'll handle these things," said the servant.

"Okay," replied Gu Yunru.

On the other side, and Gu Yunru looked at the several imperial physicians standing at the door, as Qingxing walked up with a smile and said, "Miss, the prince ordered all the available imperial physicians to come here specifically to examine your face."

Gu Yunru instinctively covered her face. She couldn't believe that Rong Zhen, who claimed not to care about her appearance, had called so many physicians to examine her face. Several physicians approached and observed her face.

Although Gu Yunru would usually diagnose herself, she was unsure about the symptoms on her face.

Looking at the physicians' serious expressions, she asked worriedly, "Physician, what's wrong with my face?"

"Miss, your skin needs to regenerate before a fresh face can grow, so I will write a prescription," replied the physician.

Just as the physician finished speaking, another physician rushed forward and said, "No need for medication, Miss. You need to be punctured with a few needles. If the needle pierces a blood vessel, it will improve your blood circulation."

"That's wrong. You're all mistaken. She needs to take a big supplement pill!" another physician interjected.

Gu Yunru was now completely panicked as the physicians began to argue. She quickly shouted, "Stop. All of you, leave. I can take care of myself."

The physicians hesitated for a moment, then rushed to inspect her face once more. Gu Yunru jumped out of bed and ran to the courtyard, but she suddenly collided with a sturdy chest. Looking up, she saw Rong Zhen's handsome face, which was now grinning wickedly.

"You're still sick. Why are you running around?" Rong Zhen scolded, then grabbed her waist and lifted her up, causing the servants and maids to gape in shock.

Gu Yunru was caught off guard and protested, "Hey, put me down. I can walk by myself."

Gu Yunru was not a three-year-old child who needed to be carried to bed. The physicians lined up and reported their findings to Rong Zhen.

After listening to them, Rong Zhen remained expressionless and said, "Try every method until her face is cured."

"Yes," the servants replied.

Gu Yunru had no defense against this guy. He clearly called so many people to experiment on her face because she couldn't move now.

For the next few days, Gu Yunru lay in bed, complaining. Either needles were stuck in her head, or a veil was covering her face, making it hard for her to breathe.

"Miss, drink some mung bean soup to cool down," Qing Xing said as she walked into the room. She looked at the Miss lying in bed, feeling bored and said, "Miss, the prince is doing this for your own good. You need to take good care of your face now."

"Ugh, he's just torturing me while he can."

Thinking back to the experiments she had done on him before to treat him, now the tables had turned. He had used all of these ideas on her.

Qing Xing saw her appearance and couldn't help but laugh. She blew on the mung bean soup in her hand and said softly, "Miss, you need to calm down now. Otherwise, it will not be conducive to your recovery."

"I'd rather die than live like this," Gu Yunru wanted to curse her father. Qing Xing scooped up a spoonful and fed it to her. "You don't know how hard Second Miss is having it at the Qingping Temple. If someone is sent there, it's hard to come back. But Madam Gu has been quarreling with the Master, trying to bring Second Miss back."

Hearing this, Gu Yunru almost choked. Qing Xing's little face turned pale, and she gently wiped the corner of Gu Yunru's mouth with a handkerchief, saying, "Miss, are you okay? It's actually a good thing. Second Miss is used to being arrogant. Going to the Qingping Temple will temper her character."

"What exactly is this Qingping Temple? Why is Madam Gu always making a fuss about it?"

Gu Yunru had been resting in the courtyard these few days, and she could hear the noise coming from the main hall. Madam Gu's screams were no less than the chickens outside the courtyard.

"Miss, you don't know. If the young master or miss from a wealthy family makes a mistake or falls out of favor, they will be sent to Qingping Temple. It's a desolate place with no people around, where they can vent their frustration. Over time, they become like the nuns inside."

"I see. So if Gu Junyao goes there, it'll be more painful than being punished or confined?"

"That's right. That place is easy to forget about."

Qingxing was also happy about this. Finally, no one was going to provoke the young miss's anger.

The next morning, Rong Zhen sent someone to deliver many supplements, as well as jewelry and silk fabrics. Gu Yunru widened her eyes at the dazzling array of accessories.

"Qingxing, pick whatever you like and choose some for others as well."

"Thank you, Miss."

Qingxing was overjoyed. She had never seen such good silk and accessories before.

On the other side, Gu Junyue heard the news and was filled with hatred and resentment. It seemed that this woman really held a significant place in the prince's heart.

"Miss, Second Miss's servant sent a message back, saying that Third Miss must find a way to bring her back to Qingping Temple, as she is very poor."

The one speaking was her personal maidservant, Miaoxin, a delicate and petite girl with eyes that seemed to speak.

"Some things can't be done just because we want to. The prince's people have been watching the people in the Gu family, and it's not easy to help her. If we help her now, the prince will see us as a thorn in his side and will get rid of us as soon as possible. We must be patient and wait to see how things develop."

Miaoxin nodded after hearing this. "You're right, Miss. What should we do next?"
