Chapter 364: Need Compensation

"Good night, big brother and sister-in-law."

Xiao Wei bid his brother and sister-in-law good night, closed his diary, turned off the TV, and went to his room to sleep.

The diary was placed back on the desk in his room. As the wind blew in through the window, it flipped through the pages of happy memories.

*August 31, 1997, Clear Weather.*

Today was very joyful. I went to the city to eat with my brother and sister-in-law. My sister-in-law served me a big bowl of soft-shelled turtle soup filled with chicken drumsticks. It was very fragrant and rich.

I liked the taste immediately after my first sip. For dessert, my brother bought me ice cream for the first time. It was cold, sweet, and delicious.

We took a taxi home. The view from the window was a bit lower compared to when we usually take a truck. The night sky had stars and the moon, lighting our way home. These three wonderful and happy first experiences made today very colorful.

*August 30, 1997, Clear Sky.*

Today, our family bought a new appliance, a washing machine. It was my first time seeing a machine that could wash clothes...

Back in the present, Bai Lu, resting her chin on one hand, watched the man standing at the table with one hand in his pocket, looking relaxed.

"Ah Cheng, you don't have a close relationship with Li Jianfeng. Why did he give you such important information? Is he suddenly being kind, or does he want to trade something?"

Xiao Cheng's cold eyes lifted slightly, and he reminded her softly, "Your information leaking to the big boss has indirect relations to him, but don't consider him a good person."

Bai Lu connected the dots and understood.

The big boss's informant appearing in Li Jianfeng's gift-giving entourage was no coincidence.

The resulting chain reaction, however, was inevitable.

Bai Lu never considered Li Jianfeng a good person, just a madman she had to deal with.

Madmen are unpredictable, acting entirely on whims, sometimes good, sometimes bad, making them impossible to guard against.

Eventually, she realized that everything was traceable, with the madman's plans hidden the deepest.

"He brought the torpedo before you returned. I didn't want it, but he forced it into my hand. I thought I'd deal with it when you got back, so I buried it," Bai Lu felt the need to explain to avoid any misunderstandings.

However, when she looked up, she noticed that Xiao Cheng's expression hadn't improved much.

In fact, he seemed a bit angry.

His tone was heavy: "You said last night that we should speak openly and honestly."

Not keeping your word!

Bai Lu's face flushed with embarrassment: "I forgot. It wasn't intentional."

"It won't happen again."

Her promises were always ineffective. Xiao Cheng reiterated the fact: "You didn't say anything."

And Li Jianfeng was a man.

For some reason, Bai Lu noticed Xiao Cheng's face growing darker and darker.

Was it really that serious to have hidden a torpedo and forgotten to mention it?

"I really didn't do it on purpose..." You came back from out of town and immediately went out drinking. After drinking, you acted like a child, and the next day you were nowhere to be found. When you came back at night, you were injured.

Then there was this and that, too many things happened, and I never had a chance to tell you.

Bai Lu wanted to argue for leniency, but seeing the increasingly gloomy look on the big boss's face, she felt guilty.

She suddenly remembered something important and thought she could argue her case: "You didn't tell me you went out drinking when you came back."

Are these two things comparable?

Xiao Cheng's dark expression paused for a second. Seeing Bai Lu's serious little face, he felt the need to explain what was urgent and what was not.

He reached out.

Pulled her from the chair.

"What are you doing... Gentlemen use words, not fists. Even if you are angry, you shouldn't bully..."

People.

Bai Lu wasn't bullied, just forced to change positions, from the chair to his lap.

Her chin was lifted, and his dangerous eyes drew near: "Who's bullying who?"

"Me!" Bai Lu always knew when to submit: "We're both bullying."

Xiao Cheng couldn't help but laugh, though his eyes remained icy and dangerous.

"Do you not know why I drank?"

Bai Lu shook her head honestly: "No."

Xiao Cheng's fingers pressed harder, closing the distance instantly. He bit her: "No?"

Bai Lu grabbed his collar and retaliated with a harder bite.

"If you don't tell me, how would I know? I only found out the truth this morning when your brother accidentally let it slip during a meeting. You never told me before."

Officials set fires, and commoners can't light lamps! Dream on! No way!

Must light the biggest, fiercest, and brightest!

Xiao Cheng looked at Bai Lu's indignant little face, his lips pursed, the pain clear.

Heh... A rabbit not only bites when cornered but also has sharp teeth.

"Which brother?" His tone was chilly.

Bai Lu wouldn't betray Wang Hao, preserving his noble quality of speaking his mind on impulse.

"I don't remember."

"It's a small matter, not worth mentioning. Let's continue discussing our future."

Xiao Cheng remained unmoved: "First, let's solve the most important issue."

"The future is the most important issue," Bai Lu tried to break free from his grip on her chin, but couldn't.

This guy was really strong!

Xiao Cheng stared at Bai Lu's aggrieved little face, getting closer: "Honesty, is it important?"

"Important, important!"

Bai Lu pushed away the boss's face, fearing he might bite her again, making her unable to eat dumplings tomorrow.

"Let me go first."

Xiao Cheng placed her on the table, his arms spreading out, creating a confined space.

Bai Lu didn't feel much different from before. The space was pitifully small, with him right in front of her.

Behind...

She could retreat onto the table.

But there was no guarantee he wouldn't pull her back, given the dangerous look in his eyes.

That indescribable, vaguely understood... can only be described as dangerous.

"Alright, it's my fault. I didn't tell you about Li Jianfeng bringing the torpedo. Forgetting was also wrong. My mind can't keep up with smart humans, resulting in such absurd forgetfulness. I shouldn't have forgotten."

"I should remember everything clearly, every moment, and not forget even the smallest details."

Her attitude was very sincere, with a smile but through gritted teeth.

Her resentment was evident in her voice.

Xiao Cheng had no doubt that if he grabbed her ankle now, she would kick him without hesitation.

Like that time in Xiao's village when he massaged her foot, and she kicked him without mercy.

Xiao Cheng's gaze shifted from her pale ankle to her waist, then pulled her back into his arms.

"Talk."

Bai Lu was stunned: "Talk about what?"

Xiao Cheng: "The future you wanted to discuss."

Bai Lu was a little surprised. The usually relentless boss suddenly showed mercy.

But his expressionless face, eyes looking out the window, ignoring everything, was also confusing.

Does he want compensation?

He must want compensation.

Bai Lu found the truth and had to compensate the boss: "Ah Cheng, what I want to discuss about our future is related to our business. Did you notice that when Li Jianfeng and the other buyers left today, they seemed unwilling to give up? They will definitely hire bandits to intercept our goods during transport."

"They have backers, and so can we..."
