Synopsis: Mason is confused as to what Mars means by the sentence 'is it really so selfish to want something that lasts?', which leads Mars to indirectly call Mason dumb. This upsets Mason, and he storms off, insisting he'll win the game on his own. Mason, however has a difficult time finding any leads regarding the hint 'look to your foundations.' Mason then looks to an empty wall in his room and begins remembering... First we see a memory of him and Mateo putting up posters on the wall of his various interests. But then the memory fades into a different, darker one of Mason's dad. His dad grips him and yells "Do you know how many strings we had to pull to get a bum like you into Vanderbilt?!" Mason's dad then continues to yell something only partially legible. Mason begins to respond, but Doug is focused on the posters on his wall. He then releases Mason, and begins ripping all of the posters off Mason's wall, insisting Mason isn't deserving of them. We see various of Mason's belongings, ripped to pieces. Once Mason returns to the gameshow from the memory, we see Mars, who looks infuriated. "Goddamnit Mason...!" he exclaims. Mason looks up to him, confused. Mars is then illustrated in front of a backdrop of messy roses, and asks "What do you take me for, a goddamn fool?!"
