okay extremely long theory comment ahead warning!! : i think i'll just go through by each member to make it more digestible?? this mv actually gave a lot of answers (?) as well as created a lot of questions when it comes to the star seekers (or +u either is fine!) universe. since no one has ever clarified any of the universe elements, besides the cat's canonicity, most is speculation but a few things come together in this video. first of all, this mv is set both in magic island and in the real world. we've known since the magic island mv that the members have the ability to travel there at will, but now we know that they can directly create portals as well. the place with the purple flowers is magic island, and where they determine their fates. the flowers also symbolize something but this mv made that less clear than it was before- due to the context of eternally, we initially thought that the flowers were a death omen but that doesn't seem to be the full story here. we also know the events in the frost mv occur after magic island as magic island was dated for the 27th and frost is the 28th. the events of eternally were mostly premonition and could have happened anywhere in the timeline- as in possible futures or timelines that may occur but didn't actually happen. frost builds on that idea here with the tarot reading where each member sees their fate, but these fates appear to be more set-in-stone. each member has already interacted with the object that's going to determine their fate as shown in the video: soobin with the crystal looking ball, yeonjun with the cat/dog/spirit entity, beomgyu with the key for the box, taehyun with the birds/trees (i'm not sure which is the key here but i'm leaning towards the birds), and hueningkai with the mirrors. personally, i think hueningkai has the most interesting scenes in this video because they somewhat confirm what we've been speculating for a while- there are two versions of hyuka. since eternally, we've known that something happened to him as soobin begins crying when he meets hyuka as a child, and hyuka is constantly portrayed as an angel in the storyline, and he's unable to reach the other members in eternally where the sky separates them from one another, hinting that he may have died. it's possible that soobin, with his ability to see the future and the past, may have changed the timeline in an attempt to save hyuka's life, and in turn, accidentally changed all of their fates. moreso, the hyuka he saved may not be the same as the one who passed on, as one version of him is portrayed as a demon rather than an angel (refer again to eternally and hueningkai's fear of his reflection in frost, as well as the reflection's autonomy). i have the biggest questions about beomgyu to be honest. in magic island, it seemed as though he was influenced by the cat to wreak havoc on the island, and in eternally, one possible timeline's beomgyu is shown fighting someone for control of the book. at the end of frost, taehyun has the book, which leads me to wonder if he was the one beomgyu fought in eternally. this would make sense considering beomgyu tried to kill taehyun in cysm. and it would make sense in context to blue hour, which is a separate, happier timeline where the book was left behind and forgotten, allowing them to be together. taehyun has always been tricky for me to figure out in the storyline, to be completely honest. one minute he seems trustworthy, and then the next he's doing something suspicious. during cysm era (i'm aware that the events of cysm aren't necessarily canon, but the motifs are), taehyun and soobin were marked as the "liars" of the group, which at the time, made everyone suspicious of both of them. however, in the frost mv, soobin's name is essentially cleared since he's obviously trying to do something good even if he accidentally messed it up along the way. similarly, they made it clear in frost though that taehyun might have the most knowledge about what's going on, especially with how he immediately stole the book as soon as he was released from his dream trance, and how he seemed to accept his fate as he started to let go of the branch. even looking back at eternally, he saw yeonjun die on magic island, and i think that he may have been the one to push them to leave. his role in the blue hour universe raises interesting questions here, though. it's canon that taehyun is a mage (wizard, however you want to call it), and in blue hour (vr version), he wears a cloak exceptionally similar to that of the person who deals out their fates in frost. i don't think they're the same person or anything, but i just thought it was an interesting coincidence. maybe they're versed in the same kind of magic?? as i talked about earlier, soobin's fate is directly tied to hueningkai's- he's doing everything in his power to save his life but seems to have messed up the timeline somewhere. even in the doom's night animation, hueningkai is kidnapped by the dragon and soobin saves him. in magic island and eternally, soobin was cast more in the light of the protagonist, but here his role isn't as central. although, i did notice that he was the only one who didn't seem shocked by his fate, as if he expected the chaos the tarot reading showed him. he also seems to have developed his ability, seeing premonitions at will now instead of having them take over in his dreams. in fact, all of the members seem unfazed by the chaos of the real world (the fire and smoke shown outside the ttukseom train station in frost), since they can escape to magic island. yeonjun is actually the one person whose story i think i can follow?? his character is canonically a warrior, a paladin, and he seems to be the guardian of their group. a lot of this is outlined in the doom's night animation. he made a deal with the cat entity to have the ability to protect the other members in exchange for his fate, and therefore, their fates are now tied together. he can borrow the entity's power just as the entity can take over him. i'm referring to it as an entity now, because the frost mv just confirms that the cat shifts forms, and is somewhat omnipotent as well as omniscient (it can see and do anything). throughout the storyline, the cat appears directly (nap of a star, eternally, doom's night) and is present whenever the members suffer or their lives are at risk (the train on magic island, the eyes watching soobin during the eternity trailer, and the two blue and green plates on the tarot reader's table). finally, in the frost mv, that cat takes the form of a puma, which is what yeonjun is fighting when his fate is shown. however, as soon as he pulls out the sword to kill the cat, taehyun falls from the sky, making it look like yeonjun indirectly kills him. i'm not sure how these two events are related yet. and i still can't decide if the dog is trying to protect him or if it's another proxy of the cat. we see paws padding around yeonjun in the desert, and the dog's eyes change to red towards the end of the mv, but the cat has never had red eyes. they're always blue/purple and green. since that's my only clue, as well as the cat's distinguishing feature, i don't think the cat and the dog are the same. okay last thing- the tarot cards the members are given were actually included in the physical releases of freeze, and they each have a line referring to that member's destiny written on them (cr to TXT translations): yj: "What started with me must end with me." sb: "There's something that I have to endure alone for eternity." bg: "Not even darkness lasts forever." th: "If only I could find the answer, I would give you my everything." hk: "I have no choice but to believe. Even if we crash down." i'm still not quite sure where these fit in aside from yeonjun's, and honestly, i have a ton of questions still, but i'd love to hear what you make of it!! sorry for the super long comment, it's literally all speculation, but i haven't been able to talk about it with anyone yet so i'm glad i got to share with you!! thanks for the reaction!!
