IT IS COMPLETE. Well, the first batch of complete playtest materials for Wandering Blades!

I'm going to be running a one shot at Breakout Con this weekend set in the Land of Blades. In these playtest documents, you'll find a rudimentary character sheet and a handy reference document with breakdowns of the five classes we designed for the con: the youxia, vagabond, bandit, apothecary, and daoshi!

Two things that are elaborated on in the demo, but are absent from the playtest materials:

  1. Guard: When an attack roll is equal to or higher than a character’s dodge, they have the option to spend guard to lower the total attack roll to parry the blow. When lowering the value of an incoming attack roll, only one source of guard can be used per attack (qi, technique, weapon, armour, or misc item).
  2. Morale: The state of a combat encounter dictates whether NPCs will surrender or run away. Allied and adversarial NPCs or creatures have a listed morale score between 2 and 12.   In combat, a morale roll is triggered when more than half of the NPCs have been killed, if the leader is defeated, or at the GMs discretion (such as when an NPC leader receives a horrible wound). When this happens, the GM rolls 2d6 and compares the result to an NPC’s morale score. If the result is higher than their morale score, the NPC will attempt to retreat, surrender, or negotiate on their next turn.
  3. The vagabond class has 2 paths at the moment, but I only included the assassin in the playtest to keep things simple.
