Here’s a new concept for a painting I’m working on 😌 I avoid drawing hands way too often because they can be so tricky to get right; but today, I told myself NOPE you’re gonna make a piece that has HANDS 😡 so here we are haha 😅 Is there any particular part of the human form that you struggle with?

Art Tip: This background you see is something like a “wash” of color (normally a watercolor or oil technique). The wash was created using the Gouache brush and a teensy bit of the Fresco brush in Procreate for subtle texture. Incorporating a wash in the early stages of your work is an old technique used by traditional classical painters, but it works really well digitally! The wash serves as a foundation for layer depth and intensity, giving the piece a deep underglow beneath flesh tones. Once again avoiding blacks, greys, and whites (both in the wash and the sketch layer) creates a visual look of warmth and life in the final piece.

Her hands are looking great! I struggle a lot with drawing bodies in perspective, especially when there's foreshortening involved. Love the art tip!

Haha thanks! And drawing bodies with foreshortening is definitely tricky, I’ve been working on that too 🙈
