I don't know about how the music shows run nowadays, but back then if groups were "big" enough you could perform your comeback title track AND perform a b-side track. However, it usually wasn't the entire track, thus the abbreviated version you see here. Most groups only got to perform their comeback title track on the music shows. Interesting thing about this song though, it was technically billed as a double-title track with Ice Cream Cake. Don't let people convince you it was a b-side. The thing is, when promoting, groups go with an upbeat song for the title track. Just because Ice Cream Cake was the song getting more promo, most people keep calling Automatic a b-side. The promo part makes sense though, because at music shows groups don't tend to make title tracks out of a slower paced song or a ballad. Red Velvet actually was VERY brave when they later released One of These Nights as a title track. They were scared it wouldn't do well. They were shocked when they won many music show trophies with it as a title track. They won a total of 5 trophies with it, if I'm not mistaken.
