Friday Rambles 2023-08-25 (Patreon)

It's the Friday Ramble for August 25, 2023. The 97th Weekly Ramble.
I made some progress with the EMDnD Autumn Content Update. Still only able to work a couple hours a day, but I wrote a bunch of words and drew a bunch of sprites. The sprites are meant to be a big surprise, so I'm not going to post them here, but yeah, at least something got done this week.
Anyway, I need to hurry up and finish this so I can move on and make Game 2: The Second One. I have so many ideas I want to explore. No time though. Whatever.
I also scrolled through Steam adding games to my wishlist, and wishing I had time to play video games. So it goes.
Ate a burger a couple days ago.
I still haven't played Zelda: Tears of Kingdom. But now I also have to play Pikmin 4, which I also pre-ordered, and then Baldur's Gate 3. I guess I don't have to. But I wish I could! Pouring one out for my free time--may you rest in peace.
Hey, so, do you do anything besides complain about how much time you no longer have?
Why, yes!
But I'm saving my most deep and meaningful complaining for my deep and meaningful dialogue-heavy video-game. Why let a good personal crisis go to waste?
Remember when I used to stream on Twitch? I kind of want to do a stream where I play Endless Monday, talking over it like I'm doing a developer commentary track or something. Like, did you know that Tiger-chan's island is shaped like Australia? Or... did you know that I made Kini's spaceship segment as a Secret Santa gift for an art Discord server event, and that it set in motion the look and settings and tone for the entire game? Or... did you know that I made the final inspiration event after learning about the game Incredible Crisis? (well I guess everyone here already knows that stuff because I already talked about it before in previous devlogs and rambles). That's just a dumb thing I sometimes think about, because we all know there's no way I'm actually going to have the time or energy to do this.
Maybe I should just make another Secret Santa gift and watch it morph into another full fledged game about something completely unrelated. It's not an uncommon thing, you know, like how those 2-day game jam games turn into real games that are good (and popular)? Maybe Lumber Lass Xtreme can be the breakout hit of the summer.
I kind of want to go on a break from the internet. I don't post that much but I do scroll too much. I should read books again. I can download a book onto my phone and read that instead of whatever junk food content I'm consuming now.
After one last round of revisions I've approved the design of the upcoming Tiger-chan plushie (because it looks good and I actually like it) and I'm expecting the first physical sample to be done in a few weeks. Generally how that goes is Makeship sends me the photos and gives me a list of revisions they will request from the manufacturer if it happens to not match the agreed upon design, along with my comments if any. Then the second sample comes back after another couple weeks and they send it to me and I bring up any concerns or revisions needed or approve it, after which the pre-order/crowdfunding/whatever campaign can start at any time. Hopefully this will all be done by November.
I have 5 days left to finish my update to meet the deadline I set for myself a few weeks ago but that's probably not happening. Considering it took me basically an entire week to write and draw one scene.
Well, I suppose not every week has to be productive.
Thanks for reading possibly the worst Friday Rambles of the year. I'll do better next time. Thanks for your support, as always!
