Friday Rambles 2022-12-02 (Patreon)

It's the Saturday Friday rambles. I didn't do a newsletter post this week because I'm too busy and have nothing to share anyway. But I am doing the Patreon Ramble because hey, we have a history.
Can you believe it's December!! of 2022!!!!
I didn't work on my zine at all because I was too busy for that too. What was I so damn busy with? I have family over and on top of that I've been putting 100% of my remaining brain energy into my "upcoming" "game". I've been coding all the systems and obsessing over the story and how to make a compelling game around it. I have a story premise that I think works well in the context of the game and I've been building proofs of concept to see if I'm actually capable of implementing my ideas lol. So far so good. My goal is to get a small beginning portion of the story out as a sort of "prologue" (with all the general gameplay stuff mostly in place) and expand upon it to completion if it ends up being fun and interesting.
I don't think I've ever been so consumed by a single thing. Remember when I said this sabbatical is for figuring out what I want to do next? I tried out a bunch of different stuff in my hobby life and these past few months (like zine writing, comics, newsletters, essays, commissions, web dev, merch, streaming, and so on), but nothing has really captivated me or gotten me so fired up as much as this. Then again, it's been like, a little over a week since I started, so maybe it's still the honeymoon phase. But I mean, it feels like such a logical culmination of all my interests (art/coding/writing), it seems almost like a waste to not at least ship one game. Regardless of how it's received, if I'm proud of it I think that's all that matters. Good experience for the resume too, for when the dream of never going back to tech is dead...
Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself. Don't get too excited. Regardless, I'll hopefully have something to show next week.
Thanks for your support, as always!
