I wanted to just draw some fun pics of some fun characters, so I drew @Jason2Gim's OC Batra.

Partly driven by my desire to "just draw more" so I can still say I draw instead of just typing lots of words about nothing all the time, I've given myself a goal of drawing more loose and fun sketches every day (or thereabouts). It was immediately derailed by me getting sick, but now that I feel better I'm getting back into it. Of course, I drew one loose sketch and then immediately spent too much time on it. I'm happy with how it turned out, though.

TMI, tangentially related to this pic: I've been thinking about how I frame my pictures lately, and what is more appealing as a composition. Particularly around how much space the character occupies within the frame (for single character works). I think in general given a pic of some character, I'm subconsciously more interested in it if the character takes up a large amount of the picture, basically filling up the entire frame, and otherwise there should be a good reason the entire body is in the frame without cropping, like the environmental/story aspect, or showcasing a really cool design or fashion or pose or angle or rendering. Anyway I think that's why I like this drawing more than I liked my previous few, which were all zoomed out and boring. (well, that and Jason's characters are cooler too (i need cooler character designs))

Anyway, it was fun drawing something that wasn't a portrait commission or b&w comic strip for once. I'll probably do more character drawings like this and try to do more interesting angles and poses and compositions, as part of my goal of drawing more. Also, despite how many times I try, I can't seem to break my "pixelly art" habit. I just like it too much. I do want to paint good too....

Thanks for your support!
