It’s that time of the year again! On June 1st, 2024 everyone who is pledging on the Hero or Legend tier will be sent a Paralives postcard signed by the whole team 🤩
If you would like to change your pledge tier, you can do so here. It’s also possible to upgrade your tier just to get the postcard and then downgrade again after a month. If you are already on the Hero or Legend tier and are eager to receive your postcard, don’t forget to check if your address is up to date on your Patreon profile!

Since we’re on the topic of exciting Patron rewards, I thought it would be a good idea to clarify our plans for their delivery as those are questions we receive daily! (wow look at me casually relating this post to my everyday work tasks ( ◡̀_◡́)ᕤ !!)
When will Patrons get their rewards? 😩
Benefits related to in-game content such as your name in the credits, a Townie with your likeness, a random Parafolk with your name, etc., will be processed at a later stage in development when we are ready to add Patrons’ Parafolks in the game. We still need to add more clothing options and hairstyles before we are ready to create all the Parafolks. When we get there, we will contact Patrons by email to ask for all the information we require!
I have pledged 3 months at the Legend tier but didn’t receive an email about creating myself as a Townie 😰
Currently, we are not sending out emails or messages to confirm that you’ve unlocked any specific rewards. We will contact you when we are ready to deliver these rewards once we are closer to the release date. If you want to know whether you’ve successfully pledged any number of months to a tier, look for your billing history in your settings page (more info here). We’ll be happy to assist you if you run into any issues!
How do I request to have a pet in the game instead of a Para for the “create a character as a Townie” reward? 🐶
Pets will not be available in the game at launch and will be added in a free update! If you would like us to create a pet character, it will be delivered later, after the initial Early Access release. You will be able to request a pet instead of a character when we reach out to you about the in-game rewards.
I need to lower or cancel my membership, will I lose my rewards? 🥺
Not necessarily! Most rewards will stay unlocked ~ forever ~ whether you choose to switch or cancel your membership. Check out this super duper useful page to find out which rewards remain and which do not: https://www.paralives.com/patreonrewards

I find it amazing to be making a game where you can see characters live their whole life from being a newborn to a great-great-grandparent! Besides me, I know a lot of people are excited about ageing in Paralives and are eager to learn more about it so I hope you will enjoy these answers to frequently asked questions.
Will characters grow up slowly and gradually while playing or will they grow up by life stage?
People often ask if ageing is going to be gradual in Paralives, meaning that a child would get just a tiny bit taller every day instead of all of a sudden when changing life stages. However, after much consideration, we believe that it’s more fun to see your character grow up and change in big steps, following life stage changes.
You may have experienced this as a child: distant relatives who haven’t seen you in a long time would be all excited to see you again because you had grown so much since the last time you met! On the other hand, your parents didn’t feel any excitement towards that because they were with you every day and you grew up so slowly and gradually that they didn’t notice any difference.
In that same way, we think it will be more exciting to see your Parafolks changing physically when they change life stages because it will be easy and fun to notice the big differences on the body and face of your characters!
What a baby Parafolk progressively ageing to the toddler life stage would look like. It looks cool, but if this child was growing by this amount but slowly, over a period of 10 in-game days, you probably wouldn’t notice the changes.
One idea that we like though (but can’t confirm at the moment) is having a few growth spurts inside the same life stage. A teenager would grow taller 3 times during the teen life stage, for instance. Modders could increase the number of spurts to create something that would look like gradual ageing.

Will Paras have a specific age like 27 years old, for instance?
Parafolks will not have a specific age. They will only have a current life stage and a progress bar so you can know how many days they have left in that life stage. Parafolks will live for around 100 in-game days (this number is still subject to change) so if they had an actual age, it would be their birthday every day which wouldn’t make much sense! If characters only have life stages to indicate their age instead of a specific number, their birthday can be celebrated once every life stage.

Will we be able to change the duration of the life stages?
Yes! There will be a setting for that in the game’s options menu. You will also be able to turn off ageing altogether if you wish to.
Besides physical changes, what else happens when changing life stages?
The game will prompt you to select a new personality trait or evolve a current one.
It’s a good time to organise a birthday party and eat some cake too!
Parafolks will get to attend different schools or workplaces according to their current life stage
Many interactions will be made for specific life stages. For instance, only toddlers will be able to learn to walk while teenagers and adults will be able to find jobs.
Will clothing items and accessories be limited to specific life stages?
No, for the most part. Children, pre-teens, teens, adults and elders will all be able to wear the same things. However, babies and toddlers will have their own set of clothes and accessories.
