Henry recalls his trip to Chernobyl, what he saw on ground at the reactor 4 site, surrounding villages, the city Pripyat, and the former top secret DUGA-1 OTH Radar Array used to detect American ICBMs. Reactor no. 4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant experienced a melt-down, and exploded on April 26th, 1986, causing the largest nuclear disaster to date. While many cite the unprecedented environmental damage, forced human evacuation, and long-lasting health problems for Ukranians and Belorussians, part of the biggest tragedies are of the people who went into Chernobyl as first responders and paid the ultimate sacrifice.
