5.45 is pretty awesome at shorter/medium ranges - never taken it out too far, mainly because of constraints with the optics.

Don't like the 7.62x39. Recoil, weight of mags full of ammo, questionable accuracy, old technology, generally poor sights unless an optic is fitted. Cheesy. If the AK74s was cheaper I'd be all on it.

Fair comment Paul. As someone who has picked up and used a 7.62x39 AKM in preference to my issued long-arm I'd agree with you on all counts. But, and this is the important bit - it still works in the real world. Great for keeping heads down.

Yup, hits with a thump of authority, if you can do your part. Frequently my part hasn't been sufficient, or.....was it the gun? I'm not a fan of inaccurate rifles. Sold one of the original Ruger .223 ranch rifles because of accuracy issues. Current ones seem to be better.
